1) is there any particular areas i should look to for local coarse fishing

Hi Wizard,the best advice I can give is to keep away from where I live,Mojacar in Almeria.It is a desert and although the maps show rivers and lakes there is no real fishing within 2 hours drive.I get my kicks on a Weds by driving to Murcia (Embalse de Argos) to catch 50 to 100 tiddlers,1lb to 6.5lb Carp and smaller Barbel.(2 hours each way)

My real fishing is done once a month in the summer,8 hours drive to Caspe or Mequinenza on the River Ebro.

I have been told of Carp in two lakes near Motril (Andalucia) where the fish go to mid 30's in one lake and 50+ in the other.The angler has promised to take me shortly.

Extremadora is known for its massive Carp and particularly Barbel,the latter in excess of 30lbs smashing the British record.

Can't really help on other questions as my son has taken over running most parts of my life (And paying my bills ) I'm sure you will get some answers on here,experts galore on ex-pats,John.
