I went in the middle of April, and there was building work going on then. My understanding is that it has been going on for at least 18 months. Its on both sides of the hotel but it wasn't a problem as the hotel is so spread out we didn't hear anything.
There is loads of building work going on in Sharm as its a newish resort and therefore a place under development.
Our tour operator also told us about it (once we had paid the balance on the holiday and it would have been too late to re-book elsewhere!!!!). I already knew about it because of HT and took the calcualted risk that it probably wouldn't bother us, and fortunately it didn't.
Has anybody been to the Crowne recently or heard of the stage the building works are at? We went last December and thinking of returning again in January. Flights are booked 
so we just need to make a decision on the hotel.

Same question from me really. Anybody been recently who can say how the building work is progressing. Surely it will finish soon, it must have been going on for nearly 2 years now 
When we were there in August it didn't look as if it was nearly finished - just looked like building blocks rising out of the ground. There were a lot of trenches being dug as well (guess for the domestic water etc.)

I just wondered how it was progressing, so its nice to get some more recent information. It didn't really bother us either when we were there. So provided it hasn't got any worse it wouldn't stop me going back. Just cant decide if to try another hotel or not. Talk about indecisive.

building work still looks like its ongoing at the Crown Plaza - we are looking to return in March that will be 3 years with building work must be a record.... have not booked yet looking for a bargain anyone seen any good prices looking to go around 22/25 march. going to surf the holiday pages now!!!!!
