At £30 a visa for India is still good value, bit I agree that it is a lot of hassle. But I believe that it is considerably more for an Indian national to purchase a visa for the UK, and a lot more hassle for them. I did hear that they have to go to Mumbai to get their visa. Anyway was the UK not one of the first countries to start charging for visas?

There has not been much about 5 year visas, I heard that they had been stopped, bit I got a message from my friend who has just had his renewed. It may have helped somewhat that he has an Indian MP as a friend of course.

Cannot really disagree with any of the posts, and although I agree with your logic feelthevibe, we are talking about the indian goverment, the prices are unlikely to be reduced in relation to the lenght of stay, As tourism is Indias biggest source of income it would be a foolish move, there are so many other vital issues they should be concentrating on.

The only thing that i wish they would change is the way you get the visa.

You should have a choice ie get it from the embassy, electronic (ala Australia) and at the airport (ala egypt).

Its a pain in the behind not having a passport for at least 4 weeks, and if it goes missing in the post you are really knackered.

Hi All, Rob, i hope they dont put the fee up again or change the amount of time you can stay on a visa, as we now go for 5mths it would make long stay hols imposible.
