Hi
Has nayone stayed the the Motakis Village before or know what the area is like, we are 100m away form Platanes but 6KM from Rethymnon. Any info would be great. whats the wetaher like end of May beginning of June??
i think these may have been called beuno apartments also and then joined???
We have stayed at Motakis Village several times. It consists of several houses in a quiet private side street of Platanias. The property belongs to the Motakis family, hence the name. Each of the houses is different, we have stayed at Trefon and Harriet Trefon is a hotel-type house, Harriet is just appartments and studios. You just book the village and once you get there, you find out where you are staying. The meals are served centrally, so you most probably have to walk to another building. We were always self-catering however and we booked our rooms privately (which was possible three years ago, don't know about nowadays). There is regular room service, everything is clean and the linen is changed regularly. You have several pools to choose from, there are several bars, a beach bar and a restaurant, the Finikas. This is also popular with natives, it really is good. The weather in May/June is fine, however the water temperature is quite fresh. It is ok once you're in
Platanes has lots of amenities and there is a regular bus service to Rethymnon. Taxis are cheap enough, too. (€5,- for the ride to Rethymnon in 2004).

is there much for kids to do in the area? is there plenty of restaurants and bars etc if we werent to go into Rethymnon?
Platanes itself has quite a few bars, shops, restaurants etc. I don't know what ages of kids you are talking about, but Motakis Village and Platanes are very popular with families, which is why we used it as a base to tour the island - no larger louts and lots of nice people to meet There are enough places to go to without having to go into Rethymnon, which is a well worth a visit however.
