Oh i so don't want to be at work today

Never mind ... anyway

had yet another fab time in marmaris - stayed at basil's apartments (next to kocer club) - room was great and we were next door to our friends so if we woke anyone up singing on the balcony at 3am we do apologise!! and we especially apologise to the lovely turkish women next door who my husband decided to attack with the water gun one day!!!!

saw all our old friends and met new ones - alex who used to work in basils in now the manager at the senbay (next door to basils old bar) and he is working with mehmet and emre (other ex basils) - also went to see the other old mehment from basils who is running the rainbow bar in armutalan and doing very well.

Frequented aussies quite a bit as well tony, marko, naz, veysel, gary, erhan are all still there although spike and errol are in the army. A couple of english girls were working behind the bar also this year (girlfriends of the erhan and another guy) - i couldn't believe that naz was letting other people touch his till!!!!!

food prices are still very reasonable - went to alexandras one night (next to natalies) - paul had 32oz t-bone steak, i had chicken platter (which came on a chopping board - huge!!), chicken nuggets for daughter, mushrooms and onions, 2 x garlic bread, 2 x large efes, 2 x water and it came to 58 lira (£22).

Kebabs are around 5 lira (£1.88), efes anything from 2½ lira (95p) to 4 lira (£1.50) depending on where you go - although we never touched bar street or the marina area.

we didn't do any boats trips this year although they are back to all inclusive - around £10 per adult kids normally free.

and mores the point - there is hardly any hassle - you get them asking you to go into bars and restuarants but if you say no they leave you alone - there are posters everywhere saying no hassle - so its nice

Welcome home alizda glad you had a good time,that went a bit quick didnt it,so ataying at basils was still okay was it with no problems with pick up from the airport etc,someone said that he had packed in his apartments as well.Is he in the process of sorting another bar out.
We text him with a few questions but never got a reply so am getting a bit worried about next years holiday in one of his houses.We would like to book up the flights but really dont know what to do do any info from you would help a great deal.Cheers,dont work too hard.

it went too blooming quick!!!

basil still has his apartments and houses - didn't see much of him saw more of joe - transfers were fine no probs at all

when we got there we saw basil and i asked him about his bar and he got a bit frosty and just said NEXT YEAR! so i left it at that!

hes always texted us back - have you tried calling his office - theres normally always somebody there either joe or mustafa

Thanks for the reply trouble is when you phone his places they cant understand what youre saying,he still has his tours going then,so all doesnt look too bad.Has his bar gone altogether or has someone else taken over it.I had heard a lot of his old staff were at the senbay so at least they all managed to find jobs.Was it okay to use the kocer club swimming pool?Hope you dont mind so many questions,i have seen some bargain flights with ba for next year £1077 for 6 of us but before we go ahead and book we really need to make sure our accomadation is secure.Thanks again

we used the kocer everyday - no problems no questions - our daughter even used the kids club!!!

his old bar is just now a big travel agency - there is a massive open storm drain around the edge which takes off some of his space - its a bit smelly too sometimes so not sure if he's going to have his bar back there - didnt ask too much!! anyway with him not having his bar it took the pressure off us having to go there every night!

Great thats one worry off my mind, we have one of his houses booked,have you been in them or know how far from basils old bar they are,i see from your report no changes in the prices for food.did you notice if sen restaurant is still there,its next to the brothers bar but someone tells me that has been moved now,also is gima up and running okay.i hear theres another waterpark near migros also,did you go there?

i haven't been in his houses no - i think one of them is by the maxwell holiday club (by the football pitches near the hospital)

not sure about the sen - can't remember seeing it

the gima is fine - no problems there

my daughter went to the aqua dream waterpark with our friends (i'm too chicken to go down the slides!!!) and they loved it - said it was much better than atlantis and the views from the park over marmaris were spectacular - the only complaint was all the steps - they said they should have has respirators at the top to help you breathe again!!! and you had to carry the large rubber rings all up the steps! i sent alisha with 40 lira - she paid her entrance had a chicken burger chips and coke and came back with 15 so prices didn't seem that bad there either - and they have free shuttle service

Didnt that go fast, glad you had a good time!! We are out on friday and will spend a lot of our time in Rainbow & Senbay - My hubby also used to work in Basils so good mates with all the boys. And think Emrah will be getting married whilst we are out there, so that will be nice :lol:

After all the good reviews a think we will be paying a visit to Aqua dream -Will try to squeeze in atlantis aswell

I keep hearing people refer to this 'no hassle' campaign - It hadnt started when we were out in May - So will be interesting to see if there is a marked change

Cockney Girl - Drop me a PM with your real name and i will chase Basil up for you - See what he has got to say!! I have been in all his houses and they are very nice - 2 of them are 2 minutes walk from the old Bar, one is a bit further down near Koc bank way

So have you booked for next year yet?? :lol:

i've booked next year 5 weeks ago!!

booked for the kocer for 30 july!!

would have booked basils again because the apartments are really nice but the flight prices were just ridiculous and made it £300 more expensive than booking with thomas cook so the choice was made for us (didn't tell basil though!!)

first time in marmaris

I am off to marmaris for the first time in a week with my hubby, kids and 2 friends and i cant wait from what i have read on here i think we will have a brilliant time

just back

we to are also just back after spending 3 weeks in marmaris..also went to visit to basil but he was busy showing people round his newly built houses. seems hes still doing real estate,we chatted to joe but didnt hang about to see basil ,,as you say alizda by the time you get flights and pay for basils apartments its dearer than a package. we just booked up for begging of september for 2 weeks bed and breakfast ..not sure were it is ..looks to be near migros from what i can make out on map not bothered just need a holiday to get over holiday we just had :lol:

only been back since saturday

.our kids didnt rate the aqua dream much ..water too shallow at bottom of slides (accident waiting to happen)and were bored after 2hrs .they preffered the beach front one .joan if you are going this year look around for renting next year ..we to are also thinking of renting but for the full year ,,the prices are unbelievable :lol:

1year is as much as 2 weeks package even ..only trouble is finding cheap flights
