This will be our 7th time in December. We've stayed in Candolim every time but in different accommodation until the last couple of times, we have now found a place that we love!

I prefer the shacks the opposite end to the River Princess as the beach is nicer (not sloping as much!) Also Bono's and many along that section have excellent food and toilet facilities, flushing toilets, very large cubicles with sink, mirrors, soap and they have patio slabs leading up to the shack! Although I have a friend that is a beach seller I prefer it here as there are security guards so you don't get any hassle from sellers which is a bonus!!

There are many excellent restaurants in the area but for me as I love Thai food it has to be the Royal Thai down by the Silver Sands, it's a lovely setting and the food is scrummy!!

Hi we normally stay at The Phoenix Park..but checked out Alburquerque Villas on our last trip...My opinion...I thought they were wonderful :D

Problem I have got this year...is that I am err 50 "cough" on the 23rd of March...Been looking at alternatives as we have been to Goa for the last 5 years!

Never been in March.always Feb...How does the weather compare heat wise?

Can anyone help?

You guessed it...I can't find anywhere better to spend my birthday!!!

:love2

We have been twice in March and the weather was very humid to say the least. The only dissapointment I had and I may have been unlucky was that the sunsets were poor. There was a sort of mist on the horizon everyday except one and you never saw the sun go completely down over the horizon. We didnt have this problem in December. You will soon acclimatise and have a great time. Just a case of taking things a bit slower, if thats possible. Having said that if anybody wants to pay for me to go in March I will gladly oblige

I keep reading everyone's review's regarding their favourite Beach Shack's, but I never hear of the one we've been to on our last couple of visit's to Goa.
It's in Candolim, and it's called Spotty's Shack, run by Spotty(obviously) and Vincent, it's next to Bobby's, at the end of the Beach Road.
My Wife and I spent Xmas Day 2004 there, having a traditional Xmas lunch (well a Goan version anyway). Had a great time.

Hi Barney - We used to use Spotty's a few years back when Carlotta worked there, it was always very busy especially around lunch time it seemed to take ages to get served, we then started to go to Sam's Paradise further up the beach towards Calangute, although it's a busy shack there seems more room and the sunbeds (which are free) are spread out, and the food is always good. We had a day down at Spotty's last year and the sunbeds were so close together you could have touched the people next to you, it was like Blackpool used to be years ago, the food wasn't too good either, we were very disappointed needless to say we won't be going back.

We're off to Candolim on 16/12 for 2 weeks and can't wait, especially after reading all the info on here. We're waiting for the reports to come back about the Alor Grande too!

Where would you say is the best place for something to eat on Christmas Day? We are adamant we don't want a 'roast' so any other suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Hi Blondepuff
Definitely somewhere on the beach, obviously Spotty's isnt what it used to be. I will be back in Goa this Xmas after missing last year, and will be checking out all the shacks in Calangute/Candolim for Xmas Day.
There is nothing quite like a Goan Xmas Day, sand between your toes, Kingfisher in hand, White Christmas on the shack's sound system, one of the shack boys padded out in his Father Christmas suit, absolute heaven...can't wait.
