:D Hi! We flew back friday morning, to leeds/brad, we were not allowed any hand luggage, all electricals were to go in case, inc psp, phones, camera etc...even our alchol (Which we binned, rather than take the risk of it smashing  ), the only things we could take through was an inhalor, and purse, and our passport was checked twice! We were the last three in the queue at check in, by the time we got through it was 7, our flight was leaving at 7.10, we didn't even have time to go to the loo, buy, a drink, mags, or something for our lad to keep him entertained, as they were making a final call for the last three passengers to leeds/brad!! BBB.

We fly next Friday with Jet2, I will check mid-week with the airline, but does anyone know if they are allowing extra baggage allowance without charge now that you can't have any hand luggage?
Reply
:D Yes, instead of the 20kg, they are allowing 25kg, although it's best to check first. After stuffing all our hand luggage into our cases, we were well over, but not charged any extra! BBB.

Thanks BellyBallyboo, will check mid week, hope it has relaxed it a bit before next Friday.

I hope it does calm down soon, I don't fancy putting my camera and camcorder into a suitcase when I've seen how the baggage men sling them around in airport programs!

Arrived back at Gatwick at 2 am this morning flying with BA. There was no restrictions on what could be taken on board as hand luggage in Tenerife (as usual some passenger's hand luggage were more like suitecases !!!!) only delayed an hour as incoming flight was late. Back in 6 weeks time so hope airport problems have eased this end by then

Nothing worse than opening the overhead luggage compartment only to find no space because some people have bags the size my ex girlfriends makeup bag which was bloody huge

Mr. Hacher-Posse,

Have you ANY idea what is ESSENTIAL in hand luggage??
Tissues, mirror, make-up, wet-wipes, camera, earpieces, spare earrings, light t-shirt spare underwear and skirt in case I spill something, fleece in case it's chilly at 30,000 feet, crossword book, novels (2 or 3 for £10:00), alarm clock (in case it goes off in the hold and causes a fracas), purse for English money, euros purse, keys, passport, tickets or e-ticket, new E111-type card, plastic bag, notebook, three different coloured biros, blow-up neck pillow, plasters in case shoes hurt, pills in case of travel sickness, mints, boiled sweets for ascent/ descent, glasses, jewellery case, fan, mobile phone, water bottle, perfume, deodorant, foreign dictionary or phrasebook, car hire docs., hairbrush, suncream for getting off plane.

And your poor girlfriend only took make-up?? What a lucky man you are!

Don't know how I'll manage next Wednesday!

AND..........favourite teabags (in case airport thinks they're packets of drugs in suitcase).. AND sunglasses, sunglasses case, glass-clean wipers.....magazine...........

Well come on.... what DO men carry? Mine thinks as I carry a bag I can also take HIS passport, HIS documents, HIS camera, HIS glasses, HIS books....etc. etc.

If you see a woman with a wonky shoulder at Gatwick on Wednesday (from past experiences) you'll know who.....

He has a small backpack which contains his camera, mp3 player, mobile phone, micro radio, various plugs, earphones, chargers, batteries and other misc. electronic bits plus magazines a drink and snacks, funnily enough about 4 years ago we travelled from New Zealand through the USA, the customs people hardly looked at all of this but insisted on checking what was in a bottle of shampoo in my handluggage, I didn't notice that they hadn't screwed it up properly and it leaked all over my books and a couple of gifts I had bought on the airport. For some reason I always end up with his toilet bag in my handluggage.

Absolutely... the toilet bag too. He did carry a backpack a few times but considered it more 'macho' to carry the alcohol. The things we like are cheaper in Tenerife so he doesn't carry that carrier bag now!

He and the 'controller' wonder why I dig around for the passports..........

Hola Judith,

I sympathise with your shampoo mess.

Last time I had the great idea to take out a huge bag of long-amassed small change and leave it in the apartment for anyone who may need it. I packed it along with all the rest of the hand luggage. I caused all the bells to ring and was thoroughly searched by a rather grumpy official. It took him ages to find the cents at the bottom of my heavy, overflowing bag. He was not amused but allowed me to take them through.
Husband made me dump the change in a charity box in the departures lounge. Think I need a private jet if there are less weight restrictions? or some minions purely for my hand luggage.....
Oh dear! Wednesday looms.....
