I wouldn't like to imagine how many bars, cafes & restaurants would suffer if this happened. One of Santa Ponsa's boasts is that its a family resort - if you took away one of its main attractions it would lose a lot of tourist trade.
We would certainly think twice about returning if we knew there would be no evening entertainment.
I'll see what I can find out. Otherwise if any other members are off to SP soon maybe they could do some investigating.

I am off to Santa Ponsa next week!!!! so I will see if I can find out what's happening. Santa Ponsa wo'nt be the same without The Square. Update when I get back.
We met a nice couple from Yorkshire who took over a bar and changed it to the Yorkie Bar, and even though the square would be full, they found it very difficult to make a living.
They were forever turning people away, who were drinking in the square, but wanted to come and used their toilets. They were very disillusioned.
As I say, I don't know whether this is connected, but maybe they are restructuring.
Cheers
Adam
It seems that the Spanish owned bars seem to have the monopoly in the square with the British owned bars being subjected to loads of restrictions as to what they can and cant do.
I do hope this is only a rumour as the Square wouldnt be the same without the live entertainment.
CBG - Have a great holiday - where are you staying in Santa Ponsa? It will be interesting to see if you can get any information about whats going on.
