Dawn,

Playa de Muro Village was called Dunas Park till last year and was given a makeover and called Village. I can't say a lot more other than the new place has something of a "designer" feel to its reception area at any rate. Both places should be top rate as they are Iberostars. They are next to each other.

Thanks Andrew

But does anyone know anymore to help me choose which hotel.

hi, i am in playa de muro at the moment and there are a lot of hotels that are much of a muchness really.
I would say that unless you hire a car then you want to be in the section of playa de muro that is close to alcudia (near viva blue) as the other section of the resort (near viva bahia) maybe right on the beach but doesnt have a great deal to do. there are only a handful of restaraunts and shops. (http://www.hotelsviva.com will let you check the addresses for reference!)
i havent seen the place you mention but i will have a look later this evening if i get chance

We stayed at the Playa de Muro Village in May 2006. It's right next door to the sister Playa de Muro Hotel so there's nothing to choose between them on location. They're both right on the beach & close to the shops.

The Playa de Muro Hotel pool complex has more shallow bits than the Village complex so it's better for kids under 6 but as the facilities are shared between the two you can use either and they are only a minutes' walk away from each other.

The Village feels the more upmarket of the two - it has a designer minimalist feel about the place due to the refurbishment in 2005/6, nice for us but completely lost on the kids. The best bits for them were the pool & the Loly and Pop mini-disco each night provided by the Animation team.

There's lots of German cyclists around whichever one you stay at but who cares - if they're out cycling in the morning then they're not going to be hogging the sun beds.

The Village restaurant & food was fantastic - we didn't eat in the Hotel so can't comment on that.

If a sea view is important to you then the Hotel has more apartments directly looking out to sea than the Village but the Hotel balconies are also smaller.

Whichever hotel you go for, I would recommend going half board/all inclusive - the restaurants in the immediate area didn't look very appealing compared to the Iberostar restaurants.

Thanks so much for your advice Steve

One last question does the Village have entertainment at night or do you have to go over to the hotel.

Both the Village & Hotel have their own complete entertainment programme.

The children's show & evening show is on every night except Saturday's (when the animation team have a day off). Children's show starts at 8pm (Village) & 8:15pm (Hotel), evening entertainment starts around 9:30/10pm.

The children's show is great for kids with dancing & games etc. It kept our kids happy and let's you have a glass or two of Sangria in peace whilst keeping an eye on them.

The evening shows are musicals like Grease and Starlight Express or adaptations of films such as The Lion King.

The kids club and playground are shared between the two hotels.

It's only about 50 metres from one hotel to the other - you just walk through the gardens next to the beach so it's like your on one complex.

We've not stayed at an Iberostar before but were very impressed with the whole package - accommodation, food, location, facilities etc (but don't bother with the gym - not much more than a couple of exercise bikes). As a family holiday it's ideal.

Thanks for all your help Steve T

I think we are leaning more towards the village as it sounds better for relaxing and if the hotel is so close if were feeling more energetic we can pop over so it sounds like we would get the best of both worlds.

Thanks again Steve T
