Been in the sea today in La Carihuela\ Torremolinos and Ive seen nothing.
Dont know about it being cooler, its sweltering here
Stacks of people in the sea all day long.
I have heard that there is a flag that will now be flown along side the usual red, amber or green ones.
I havent actually seen the new flag myself, well, I dont really want too, it means a jelly fish invasion, but it has two jelly fish on it ...kindda like two squiggles.
Regardless of what colour flag is flying, the jelly fish warning one will be flown when needed..... along side the usual sea current warning flag.

is there a certain time of year that the jellyfish are most common? Apart from pain what exactly happens when your stung by jellyfish?
You know very quickly that you have been stung, hurts like hell and turns red and sore. The poison is alkaline so you need to get acid on it very quickly, do not put water on it as it makes it worse. Most common source of acid on the beach is vinegar from a bar or restaurant and even easier is urine, and no I am not joking. Been there and done that as they say!
