'Family' resort?

Hi there,

First time i've posted in the Cyprus forum, and i'm looking for a little advice...

Me, girlfriend (20/19), parents (44/51) and brother and his friend (17/17) are looking for somewhere to go next year on Holiday. First time parents have been away abroad in ages, and so need something for everyone. Mam saw a brochure, and Cyprus jumped out at her!

We are looking for some where where there's a good beach so we can relax during the day, but have the choice to do trips and excursions if we need, etc, somewhere where parents could maybe go off iff they need (into historical / archaeological stuff :)), but then restaurants and pubs to go to in the evening.

Quite a lot to ask, I know!

Originally we looked at Paphos, but after looking a bit more deeply, doesn't seem the right place. Whereas on first looking, Protaras does...

Can anyone offer advice?

Protaras

hi ! Hubby and I stayed in Protaras 2 years ago and it was fab. Plenty of trips (we did the 3 day cruise to Egypt). There is some fantastic accommodation - loads of beach front hotels, and the beaches are superb. Spotless sands and clear blue sea. There's also plenty of cheap & top class eateries, plus themed bars like the "friends" and "flinstones "bars. Protaras has something for veryone.

we have just booked to go back next year. :lol:

Protaras is a good one, but it won't have the archaeological/historical stuff. Paphos is the resort for that, but it doesn't have the beaches. I have stayed in both resorts, and on balance with a mixed group would say to go for Protaras, particular if the beach is an important factor -beaches are lovely there. Nightlife should be lively enough for most people also. It does have something for everyone, and the option to take trips to do other things out of the resort. A good choice!

We stayed in Pernera (outskirts of Protaras) and we hired a car, saw the tombs of the kings etc in paphos, booked a jeep safari and so the troodos mountains, walked around the area, went on the beaches, drove to limassol etc etc... if you can drive it only takes a couple of hours to get from one end to the other (and I wasn't above any speed limits..)

I would recommend Protaras. The lovely Fig Tree Bay Beach is there ansd all sorts of excursions can be arranged from Protaras.
