Hello,
I am looking at some locations where to go on holiday at the end of May 2007. Because of the time of the year and liking somewhere very hot without going very far we thought that Turkey would be a good place.
However we are not set yet for the destination so if anyone can advice of other locations these will be considered.
As we are going on a family holidays with 2 boys that will be 5 and 7 we need somewhere a walking distance from the (clean) beach as we dont like pools and from amenities (restaurants ...)
With regards to Turkey I noticed that there are a lot of resorts to choose from so can you please advice of the best family orientated area?
Thanks a lot!!
Olu Deniz is nice. Family orientated. It has a beach and the lagoon area which is better for small children. There is also plenty of choice of hotels from AI, HB and B&B. A few nice trips to be had, and you are near Fethyie and Hisoranu as well.
there are lots of resorts like you say and everyone likes different things, ie some like all the water sports, others want clubs, bars etc, so depends if you want a more relaxed holiday or busier 1 really, i personally like the prettier quieter places and my daughter is 6 and is happy there too, we like olu deniz with the lovely lagoon just like stepping into a warm bath, not too much hassle enough shops and bars for us and if i want more then 1 mile on a dolmus is hisaronu. icmeler is also very nice, bigger more shops, bars etc there, but in my opinion not quite as pretty, but still lovely, maybe if you can provide more info on what you like we can narrow it down a bit
We would prefer somewhere quietER, not completely deserted, but certanly away from loud and roudy clubs, nightlife and pubs.
we would rather go to a more busier place when we want to than to have it eveyday in your face.
I would imagine a resort taht have small shops and nice walks through the old city (if there is such place lol) with an ice cream in your hand, lovely restaurants..
Also as we are quite adventurous somewhere where we can do some sport activities with the boys.
The night life is very low key, and revolves around the restaurants, rather than noisy bars and clubs, although there are a few bars that have some music, but these all have to close by 1 am.
The beach has an award for cleanliness, and during the summer season there are also water sports.
Its a lovely, friendly resort where you'll find people have time for you, in fact once you've been there a couple of days, as you walk down the main street, you'll be recognised and greeted by many people! (I don't mean hassled, there are strict rules about hassling, which the mayor has set)
It is also in a spectacular setting, surrounded by mountains. There are many small hotels and apartment complexes, which are usually of a good standard, and are very family-orientated.
Wherever you choose to go, have a lovely time!
thank you alfie that was very helpful!
I've written a review of the Palm Garden Apartments (in the hotel review section) for Icmeler which is a superb property in the quiet part of Icmeler, ideal for families. Icmeler is busier than Olu Deniz in the way of bars and restaurants.
Olu Deniz is more sedate and tranquil. We stayed at the Karbel Hotel which was also brilliant. There are reviews on this site for this hotel.
Olu Deniz is a more compact resort and easier to navigate.
Any further info required PM me.

Hi Weblady, I always recommend Babadan Apartments, Icmeler to families. If you click on search at top of page and type in these Apartments it will bring up a seven page dossier for you. Good luck in your quest. If you decide to Book here, I can recommend Restaurants and a good jeweller to help your holiday along.
Firstly welcome to the Forums. Secondly if you do choose Turkey, whatever resort, you will not be disappointed. So far you have had excellent advice, I am a Marmaris fan myself but if you don't know it then I agree it can come across as a bit of 'in your face'. Icmeler is smaller and really nice, you would not go wrong there. Turunc I have only visited on day trips and thought it looked ideal for a relaxing holiday. One wee tip is to use the 'search' facility at the top of the page if you have the time. Best of luck.
