£1,500 for 2 weeks that crazy money, if you are going by yourself budget for around £500 (depending on AI, BB or 1/2 Board). We went to Gumbet in May I spent £490 and the wife sprent around £300 and we gave tips of around £120 over the 2 weeks (this was 1/2 board). We are going again on Monday and I will be taking £800 and my wife is taking around £550 coz we are going B & B.

Budget for a decent dinner of around £10 (27 Lira) each (with wine), 4 Lira (£1.60) for a large beer and 5 Lira (£1.70 ) for a mixer drink, soft drinks are expensive ir a coke is around £1.75, they are more expensive in night clubs thou, as you would expect. Som people say Turkey is expensive, but I didn't think it was that expensive, compared to home it is very cheap.

Enjoy your hols, I know I will :glynis :glynis

Whoa, seperate husband and wife spending money?!?!?!?!?

We were half board and club Julian in Marmaris last year and spent around £1500 in a fortnight, that was for 2 adults and a 3 year old. We did buy quite a few things at the market though, although we didn't do any trips. The exchange rate is a lot better this year though so you may well find that £1500 is well more than enough.

Hope this helps.

Zeldamcglen! how many of your family are going?

robert1962, sorry but i find it strange that you and your wife take seperate spending money

My brother and sister in law always have separate 'social' money. I find it quite odd too, but would perhaps be the same if I were married.

They also don't do that annoying couple thing of only buying one round between them as if they are one person (okay if you're in a group of solely couples, but if there are any singles there we end up spending more than them).

Sorry, back on topic, I can usually cope on £600 for a fortnight self catering or half board. I don't buy anything though, that's just food and drink and 1 or 2 trips.

i really think seperate moneys a good idea, but i feel scank on my boyf as i would have saved more money then him.

How do you get around the seperate money issue if youve got kids, i have a 22mnth old whos coming with us.

Im def taking 1500 and ill also take my cards n all, as i want to do a bit of spending whilest im out there.

so you think ill spend 600ish on food, better make it 800ish with a fatty boyf and little boy like mine lol.

i have never spent anywhere near that amount!

In Kusadasi in June (1 week) i spent £200 total (food, few drinks, 2 day trips & a few small souvenirs) I did spend more in Marmaris, but only about £250 total.

I dont go crazy on the 'genuine fake' shopping tho. but we always have 3 meals a day (breakie inc with hotel tho) light lunch (sandwich, kebab, or burger) then a decent meal with a few drinks.

Family of 4, 2 weeks in Olu Deniz on All Inc, spent £1000. Including 3 full day trips, shopping, cocktail bars, dolmus rides, taxis, sunbeds, parasols, decent ice creams etc etc etc . Bargain :D :D :D

:D i guess ill just have to take the lot and hope for the best and that i dont over spend.

Is the fake gear alright as im mad on handbags n some1 told me you can get them extremely cheap out there.

Yes, but bear in mind with fake goods these sort of things fund all manner of things from child labour to terrorism.

Sorry, don't like to lecture but people should know!

Hi Zelda :D

Well it was for 4 people for 2 weeks, and we aren't the sort to go AI and never leave the complex. We ate out now and again, went to beaches rather than staying round the pool, bought shoes, TShirts, shorts, trousers, gameboy games (8  ) at Fethyie market. The trips we went on where Thomsons cos I was worried about insurance (or rather lack of it!) going on non tour-op trips, but if you are prepared to book locally the trips are half the price.

Don't worry it can be as cheap or expensive as you want really. Enjoy :D

We went B&B this last two years in Olu and never spent more than about £700 all in.

I see people quoting some meals at 40 or 50 lira each, we always ate Turkish and a meal never came to more than 25 Lira for the two of us, the most expensive meal we had was on the fish market in Fethiye at 50 Lira for the two of us but it was lovely.

If you are going to try and eat in the Indian/Chinese/English catering places then you will pay more but why go to a country that has the worlds 3rd best quisine and eat food you get over here. We love the Turkish food and it really does work out pretty cheap, cheaper than Spain and such

i really must agree with you, i absolutley love turkish food, my best friends dad owns a turkish restuarant here in nottingham called antayla my favourite is muska borek, there filo pasty filed with cheese (goats i think) GOOD there the most delicious things i have ever tasted. I hope they have them out there when we go.

I now have 1150 liras (about £600ish) just decided to take the rest as travellers cheques as its getting quite a wad of notes.

Not really kean on chinese or india food, so i wont be paying over the odds.

2weeks and 3days to go, cant wait.
