There's a Bus that goes to Mapusa that starts in Sinquerium and takes you to Candolim,Calangute and then to Mapusa... There also a bus to Panjim that can take you from Calangute to Candolim then it goes to Panjim... A seperate bus can take you from Calangute to baga I think (never used).

Bus to Palolim - first you need to get to Panjim Bus station (9 /- Rs), then Panjim to Margao (around 16/- Rs/-) - This is a guarenteed seat service non stop. You then get another bus from Margao to Palolim, it's quit a long journery but it's cheap.... it's at least worth getting to Margao by bus as the panjim margao route is very quick...

Not sure about Ashwem - I guess you have to go via Mapusa..

Ginlizzy hic hic Ive done a few bus trips, not for the feint hearted (or when you have had a few!!) Candolim to Mapusa and Candolim to Panjim it really is amazing how much more you can see from the bus - the only problem is getting on and getting off!!

Hi ya ginlizzy,
we travelled down to palolem last march using the buses and it was a good experience, really cheap. it does take a long time but i is worth the effort just for the experience. my girlfriend didn't really like it but she did have a bit of a bag on before we left. she likes everthing to go like clockwork which this didn't. we did catch a taxi back to candolim, but we are going by bus to paloem next march now she knows what to expect.

I remember my experience on the buses from last year on our way to baga you have to change in calengute anyway the step where you get on the bus there stood the (conductor)so we sat the seat in front of him and were we sorry every time we reached a stop which is every few minutes the conductor whistled the driver to stop it's the loadest whistle i've ever heard god knows how many decibels he reached we laughed about it later things like that can only happen in goa.

Weve used the local buses for quite a few years now, and the only prob we have, is getting off at the right stop (having to push through the standing passengers whilst the bus is stationary) To get to Mandrem + Ashven you need to change at the Mapusa terminus. The tourist board runs daily excursions to North + South Goa. These are very full day trips and cover Old Goa, various temples, Margoa, Colva, Dona Paula and Miramar on the south one, and only costing about 120 rupees . You need to book a couple of days in advance and you are alloted seats. You can also combine them with evening sunset cruises in Panjim for another 100 rups or so.
