Hi All
Myself and partner are travelling to Portugal in a few weeks. We are staying in Olhos D'Agua and want to know where the nearest markets are and how to get to them!
Boyfriend wants to practice his haggling techniques! Lol.

Not sure what days but there are some in Albufeira on certain days every month. Try searching the forum under "markets" and you should find some info'. We went to one in Quarteria quite a few years ago and it was interseting, mainly bedding, bags, shoes etc. Be prepared to haggle big time though
We drove to Loule also and went to the market there , we really liked it as the food, (veg, fruit, fish etc) were great and cheap. We were self catering in a villa so bought quite a lot of food there and it feels very much like a "real" market used by plenty of locals.
Good luck with the search

Hi Poppet, There is a market in Albufeira on the first and third Tuesdays of every month, it is situated up the road from the fire station (Bombeiros) which is on the corner, go right to the top of the road and its on the left hand side. Quarteira market is on every Wednesday, I am not sure where you catch the bus to it maybe someone else could answer that question. When the bus reaches Quarteira it stops at the bus station and the market is just up the road on the same side. Loule market is on every Saturday but not sure again whether buses go direct to it as we always go by car. Cheers Jayjan
Just to add on from what Jayjan said, if you can get a local bus into Albufeira(not sure about the service), get off at the main bus station and the market is a couple of minutes walk from it.
Basil.
