Has anyone visited the Cumana Apartments in Puerto Rico lately? We are thinking of going next year. Have been reading the "Reviews" and they are mixed. We don't mind that it's up a hill and there is loads of steps............but what we'd like to know is are there fans to hire on the complex or nearby and if so are they any good? - sometimes you pay to hire something that doesn't make a blinding bit of difference to the room!!!
Also any other info about these apartments would be helpful.
Thanks
Hi, we stayed in these apartments 2 years ago and we had a good holiday but I wouldnt book them again. Half of the apts had been re-furbished and half not. We got a good apartment but it was the place as a whole. The steps in the complex are never ending and we are pretty fit and they are like crazy paved. You get a map when you check in and its like a maze trying to find your room and for the poor person carrying the cases, well its a challenge( no lifts) They are an accident waiting to happen. It just seems rough round the edges. The pool is small with no space round it, tiny pool bar. Quite a few apartments are private so people are living in them all year which has a bit of a different feel to it. The shower only gives enough hot water for one person so you have to wait till it warms up again. These apts are different to any other Ive stayed in PR. Im sorry to give these negative comments, as I say I always enjoy Puertorico and Ive been quite a lot, I just wouldnt rush back to the Cumana. P.S we were a group of 12, all couples in 30's and 40's
Thanks for your honest comments - I'd been onto the reviews and there were one or two saying similar to yours. The hike up steps wouldn't really bother us as I am told that 2 bed apts are low down anyway, but then is the restaurant up the way?
I manage to find someone's hol snaps on another site and their apt looked a bit "tired" and the pool did look quite small - I think we are going to look for somewhere else - we're not going til late next summer so plenty time, but when flying from Aberdeen we always need to book well in advance to get direct flights.
We are 2 adults (late 30s and 2 teen boys 17/14) so we DO need a 2 bed apt, which we are finding the supplements are v.expensive as they sleep 6!! Last year they slept on the sofabeds, but we find that there is no room for luggage & stuff...................the elder one said he wasn't coming on hols with us again, but now he's realising that while his folks are paying for him to go on hols he's not gonna miss out
Back to the drawing board...........thanks again.
Im not sure what the prices for flights are from Aberdeen as we are in Yorkshire but we always find booking this way cheaper. Well good luck with your search !
Thanks for the advice - we are actually looking for a package this time, but we don't always - reason being that our youngest can still get away with a free child place, but if you book flight only he is charged adult...............and flights from Aberdeen are like gold dust and the supplements are steep. We actually found out today that there were no seats left on the flight the week we wanted - there's only one a week from Abdn to GC when we have decided (first week in Oct)
We're right put off the Cumana now anyway, so waiting to hear back from a friend about some other accom and hopefully will get something booked in the next day or so. Apparently there are only 8 seats left on the week previous - we're still classed as the "far north" ya know!! We might end up flying from Glasgow (over 3 hours drive tho) at this rate.
Thanks again
