help am thinking of booking everything independantly for orlando next May wanting to go to Bahma Bay( been before and was beautiful) have got good flight prices (£1544 for 4) but not sure about the car hire where is the best place help someone please need to book holiday asap as need something to look forward to
thanks
Try Airline network ..they are usually pretty good.
The reason I want to do this is so I don't have to drive after the long flight, I will do the theme parks for the 1st couple of days and explore when I get the hire car deilivered 4 or 5 days into the holiday.
Dollar have a desk at Sanford so I'm sure you would be able to leave it there before your flight home.
6515 International Dr.
Orlando, FL32819
(407) 226-1097
I-Ride Trolley Stop - 11 South
Airline Network def. let you collect from there and return to Sanford, no additional charge.
Thanks Jeff
can anyone give me any websites for car hire we are flying into orlando airport and want to pick our car up at the airport i have only used dollar and alamo before but others i have looked at are cheaper i am a bit wary as friends of ours booked with a company before but had to get a taxi to another location to pick up their car, also any good sites to book flexi tickets. thanks
We always book through a broker and usually get the car from Dollar or Alamo and the savings are significant. Try Usrentacar they usually work out to be the cheapest these days.
As for someone having to get a taxi to pick up the vehicle I can honestly say in the dozens of times we have been there we have never had to do that or even heard of anyone doing that. If the car hire place is off airport they will invariably provide a shuttle bus.
Terry
Airline Network are usually worth a look too.
maybe do a trip to clearwater
who would you advise to hire a car with
virgin or other
and is Platinum Upgrade Package
worth it?
*Edit to remove text style abbreviations. Pippy*
I have travelled with Virgin on three occasions and always taken their car hire, the insurance on the 2 week package is about 250 pounds (this is for standard not the platinum). Think the car has been called a Dodge Stratus.
I have had a brief look around before but have not seen any rental deals for a fortnight that are much cheaper than 250 so went with it for convenience.
Never bothered with Platinum as the standard gives you what you need.
Not sure how much extra Platimun is you could check on http://www.virgin.com/holidays
Think it includes additional drivers, a tank of petrol (bet they charge over the odds for it!), drivers under age 25, and kids car seats.
If you dont need most of those I wouldn't bother.
Re the kids car seats, when I went with a three year old we just took ours out of the car at Gatwick and checked it in with our luggage. When we got to Orlando Int. there were lots of them going around on the carousels. LOL.
This week I have just booked a full size car through USrentacar for £241 and the same price for the same thing through Virgin is £290.
Having a brief look around does not usually bring in the best deal
At the end of the day it will be loates decision as to if he/she can spend an hour or two doing his/her own research in order to save the 40 or so pounds.
doepsmc - there is indeed such a car as the Dodge Stratus. It's a pretty decent car.
booked a holiday to orlando with virgin and
have been given a free compact car for 2 weeks
have the option of getting there insurance platuim insurance for 280 quid
question is i think there insurance is third party only
can someone tell me this ?
and am very worried as i have never drove outside the uk b4
some advise and links would be fab as i am worried a little and dont want to get the wrong option.
also if i wanted sat nav ourt could i get this as i dont want to be gettting losted while over there, as i dont really drive in citys living in the yorkshire dales
Have a look at the following post:
Thats the car virgin have allocated us the three times we have been to Florida and we have always been very happy with it.

Dont worry, either of the Virgin Car Insurance packages will be fine for you.
One is called Fully Inclusive Insurance, the other
Platinum Insurance.
They both cover all that you need.
The fully inclusive will probably be about 15 pounds less than the 280 you have been quoted for Platinum. If there are only two of you they may give you a Dodge Neon, although often they don't have the smaller cars so you seem to get a free upgrade
It is just a matter of if you want to pay that little bit extra, to get the included tank of petrol, kids car seats, age under 25 drivers, and second driver that comes with the platinum package.
thanks see my new post tho
and virgin web site made a cock up ( website error rang them got it for free) so i have got
Platinum Insurance with my car hire for free
anyway what does this insurance cover
the reason i ask i have never drove outside the uk before, and if i have a accident which is my own fault am i covered
http://www.virginholidays.co.uk/brochures/florida/info/flydrive/insurance/
if not what can i do as the insurance from vigin is worth 290 pounds
better safe than sorry
all off topic how would i go about getting a sat nav for the car
cheers
all advise welcome
