I've already booked for Capo Vaticano, on the recommendation of a friend who went this year, anybody else have any views on the area.

3 at least because I went for a long weekend last month. Bought a small Apartment near Isca Marina so I guess you can tell I like it there!

How did FC Utd get on last season, did they win the league? I saw 1 game last season when I was up to see the other Utd.

Cheers,

Jeff

Got back on Tuesday, had a good time, it was my first time in Italy and I really enjoyed it. Calabria is a beautiful region, and the people are really friendly and really try to understand you even if you dont know any Italian.

We had a day on Sicily as well, which was equally as good.

Unfortunatley it seems Thomsons are pulling out of the region, and to the best of my knowledge no other British travel firm goes there.

I got back last Tuesday after a brilliant holiday in Tropea(absolutely beautiful)..Also spent a day in Sicily, along with a day out in Stromboli,Lipari and Vulcano(Aeolian Islands)......Travelled to Reggio Di Calabria and a little village called Scilla on the coast which was one of the prettiest places i've visited...Tropea's restaurant's were lovely and the locals very friendly........
Unfortunately,Thomson have pulled the plug on Calabria for next year due to poor sales, but the rep at our hotel said that this is quite a common practice by Thomson, and in the past they have resumed Holidays to areas that they've pulled the plug on only 1 or 2 years before...Another thing she said, was that other UK holiday companies have moved in to places that have been left "free"in the past...So if anyone has the opportunity to visit calabria, take it as the place is Fantastico....

We spent a day in Tropea, and you are indeed correct Dean it is a beautiful spot, I wish we had stayed there instead of Capo Vaticano, not that where we were was poor, it wasnt, just that Tropea looked better, and had a lot more to do.

Sicily was amazing and although we are going to Croatia next year we are thinking of Sicily for 2009, one of the beach resorts below Taormina would do nicely.

Eric....Before you say anything,I'm not stalking you...honest....I've booked to go to Cuba next year, but have decided that 2009 we will more than likely go to Sicily.....Possibly Syracuse,Cefalu or Letojanni...Haven't decided which resort yet........
With regards to Tropea, you are spot on.....The old town was a 10/15 min walk away from our hotel(Rocca Nettuno)and was without doubt, one of the nicest places i've stayed at...Our hotel was good aswell so all in all it was a top trip......
Taormina in Sicily was very nice, but a bit touristy compared with Tropea, and closer to the sea(Letojanni,Taormina Mare,Giardini Naxos)it is supposed to be a bit less touristy....Also,in one of the brochures there are photos of Cefalu, and the place looks just down my street......I'll keep you posted when and if i book it as i usually book hols quite early.....Ciao
