Hate to sound like a kill joy having just had two great weeks in sunny Protaras but would just remind people to check their change in pubs and also their bills in restaurants.
We had a great time but on several occasions were given change of ten pounds rather than twenty. Once was in the hotel when the bar man insisted it was a ten and even took my room number incase his till was short the next day ( obviously it wasnt as i knew it was a twenty i had given him )
The same thing happend in a couple of pubs where the staff just gave the extra ten pounds change rather than dispute the matter, depending which way you look at it, it could be good as they paid up straight way or bad that they paid up as they were trying it on eachtime.
We ate at the same restaurant twice and both time there was something on the bill which we didnt have.
They did deduct it from the bill when we questioned but if it happened to us twice in the same place god knows how often people dont realise ( Raj indian restaurent please check bills, although great food )
We always check the bill when on holiday where ever we go. This has happened to us a few times, extras been put on the bill in restaurants, when questioned have always taken it back off.
It happened a few times in cyprus last year also.
How much are they making out of us holiday makers?
Theresa
I'm either lucky or being 6'4" and 19 stone makes them think twice.
Cypriots are much more honest than the tourists.

I only suspected getting the wrong change once... I can't remember where it was and I might have given them a ten anyway (so even if I could remember where it was I wouldn't say).. but it wasn't a local bar tender if it did happen...(and to be honest I don't think I did get the wrong change I think it was just with reading on here about people getting the wrong change that made me think about it etc.. )
just wonder if it's a scam used by some of the migrant workers to get extra cash as the wages are rubbish,it's a shame as i've always had no trouble but will have to watch out from now on.
Very unusual for Cyprus.....
This happens far more frequently in Turkish resorts...too frequently for our liking and we will never return to Turkey because of it, that and the creepy old pervy guys who constantly make nuisances of themselves with female tourists.
So Cyprus for us is more in line with Spanish resorts for honesty and friendliness of restaurant and bar hosts.
