Hi
Been to Greece 3 years in a row now and fancy a change. Got mixed reports about Turkey but we are keen to give it a go.
We thought Turunc looked nice in one brochure. We want a fairly small quiet resort but with shops restaurants and bars in walking distance and a self catering apartment with a pool. We like restaurants with quite a local flavour.
Will we find this in Turunc? or can you recomend somewhere else?
Is it expensive?
From what people have written this year, the smaller resorts seem to be cheaper than Marmaris, Bodrum etc. But Turkey is very good value wherever you go, compared to EU countries.

Just over the mountain is Icmeler, a beautiful place, then there is Kalkan, another cozy place. Wherever you go in Turkey, the people are always friendly and helpful. A marvellous race who love nothing more than to converse with you. If you can speak a few words of Turkish then this will help as well. To make a friend of a Turk, is to make a friend for life !! Once you've been to Turkey, you won't want to go back to Greece. We have nothing against the Greek people, we love them as much as we do the Turkish. It is just that we have become hooked on Turkey, just like many other people on this Forum. Give it a try !!
Have a look at http://www.dalyanholiday.co.uk to see the area, some of the restaurants, hotels and villa rentals - including a really nice traditional cottage.
I am a Marmaris fan myself but from what you describe I think Turunc would be ideal for you. Have visited it several times on boat trips and while I know it's only for a couple of hours the place impresses. No matter what, as everyone will say on this Forum you will not regret chosing Turkey.

akyaka is perfect for what you want, quiet with a lovely beach, lovely riverside area too with restaurants, only 50 mins from dalaman airport, marmaris is 20 miles away so ideal for a day trip. prices are a fair bit cheaper than most of the main resorts, ive put some photos of akyaka in the gallery so have a look its pretty and the people are very friendly
Personally I think icmeler has the perfect mix - great beach and not too lively, suitable for all ages and there are some lovely places you can walk to to get away from a the hustle of the centre.
The good thing about Icmeler is that all music in the bars must be turned off at midnight so you never really get a problem with noise.
Akyaka is beautiful - I think if was really wanting to get away from it all I would choose Akyaka over Turunc.

have a read up on the resorts that you have been recommended before you make any decisions, as everyones idea of holidays is different. good luck
I would have to agree that Turunc sounds the perfect place for you. We have also been to some of the smaller resorts mentioned, and they all have their best features and not so good features, but we have never been disappointed with any of them! I agree that lovely as it is Icmeler may not be what you are looking for. If you choose Turunc, I am sure you will not be disappointed!
Dont forget Kas and Kalkan, as well as Dalyan..... Dalyan is very flat, so good for people who can't cope with hills.......
