Hello,
Thinking of trying Turunc which i hear wonderful things about. The Turunc hotel looks very nice and is a good price, reviews are a little mixed but reading between the lines it seems generally a good one.
Can anyone give me an honest review of it, not hugely fussed with food as would mainly use it for the drinks/breakfast and lunch. Dinner we would use depending on the quality but i like to go out and about rather than staying in the hotel complex.
Alcoholic drinks, spirits anyway were expensive in Olu Deniz when we went so thought for the extra money, at least i can have drinks whenever etc and not have to worry about the cost or breakfast or lunch.
Anyone who can give me a info about the hotel, good and bad and also the resort, any tips, that would be great.
Thanks
We have booked to stay at a private villa in Turunc for our first ever stay this June. Therefore, can't help with you with personal reviews, but wonder whether you have seen the reviews on Trip Advisor?
It's probably the largest hotel in Turunc, it is about 10 minutes walk along the back of the beach from the village.
The Turunc Hotel did open a small water park there a couple of years ago, I don't know whether its still up and running. All I really know about it is that it was very expensive (you didn't have to stay there to use it). I don't know what the arrangements are for hotel guests, whether or not they can use it free(or at a cheaper rate).
If you like to get out and about to the restaurants you won't be disappointed. You really are spoilt for choice in Turunc, for a small resort there are a lot of really good restaurants, and they are mostly very reasonably priced.
Can't really tell you much more about the hotel, but if you want any more specific info on Turunc I can probably help.
Just wish i could find a smallish hotel (under 50rooms), decent standard with decent all inclusive and be left alone in the evenings to do whatever.
There are lots of great small B&B's but if drink prices are anything to go by with what we paid in Olu Deniz, the all inclusive part just makes sense .... dilema .... anyone got any suggestions.
To give you an idea of where we stayed before, it was the Villa Beldeniz, an absolute gem, decent rooms and lovely hot power showers, pool just big enough and a sense of calm without lots of screamers and splashers about (kids)
As an agent you would think i would be able to decide but this year, i am really struggling for some reason, must be something to do with hitting the big 30 LOL.
Cheers guys
Travel Republic have both the Ozcan Hotel, and My Meric Hotel, both in Turunc available as All Inclusive.
I am open to suggestions too, would even go back to Olu Deniz which i loved or something similar.
Thanks
I'm surprised you think drinks are expensive, we think the prices are really reasonable. It also keeps the village alive if there are people out and about eating and drinking rather than staying in AIs.
Vodka / Bacardi with coke is my favourite and in alot of the bars i was paying 8YTL upwards, i think buzz bar was 10YTL and at the time i went it meant i was paying around £4 when back here i pay about £2.50. Even soft drinks seem pricey.
I'm not one to go out an get drunk or anything like that but over the course of a week, it soon adds up.
Have you thought about staying in a different resort and visiting Turunc by dolmus,it would give you more choice of hotels,I've only stayed at the Grand Pasa in Marmaris so cannot recommend any.Marmaris was not my cup of tea so we're staying in Icmeler this year.T.
Also is it the type of place we could do the beach then have a nice meal (early evening) before heading back?
Many thanks
P.S We are a party of 5 adults & 5 kids
You are spoilt for choice with restaurants along the back of the beach. The Korfez and Surmen are 2 of our favourites, but having said that they are all great, and will welcome your party at any time you choose to eat.
Have a good time!
Do you know where we would get the dolmus from (haven't been on one before due to prams etc) & would we have to go to the Harbour to pick up the Water taxi?
Sorry for all the questions
The times of the boat are on a board there.
Thanks Alfie
Food was inedible and cold. We ate out all week. Pool area was filthy, they ran out of drinks at one point, the lifts weren't working and the staff "didn't understand English" when you tried to raise an issue with them. Travelled with Anatolian Sky and they dropped it after feedback from several customers and paid us compensation for our expenses. Travel operators don't do that unless there is a big problem.
Regarding drinking Bacardi, I don't think you would get that on an AI basis in any hotel in Turkey as its classed as an imported drink.
Have you thought of Gocek? It's a small town with a few hotels. Swissotel is fab and less than one minute walk to the village. Its part of the raffles group. Unfortunately its only on a B & B but you can eat really cheap in Gocek, or of course you can pay a lot in the hotel restaurant. Several companies do this, including Blue Cruise of London Cachet Travel too.
Another is called Mr Dim - not to be confused with the Dim Otel - owned by same family. Not sure who does it but you can book direct. This is a fab little family hotel, seconds from the centre of the village, with pool and lovely sunbeds and breakfast, lunch and dinner available, or you can go into the village.
Sure others will have recommendations for Turunc if that's where you still wish to go.
Good luck
hi, re the drinks prices, you wont find anywhere cheap for alcohol in turkey, its the tax they put on it, and after all it is a muslim country. to keep cost down now we now take duty free and have a couple of drinks at the apartment before and/or after going out. we buy wine from the supermarket and just buy it by the glass when out. its not that we are cheap skates but the difference it makes to what you spend on holiday is phenominal. restaurant bills are halved !! i know its not everyones cup of tea and its easier for us as we dont like loud bars etc but last year we only spend just over 500 quid in 2 weeks including trips to beach (stayed in dalyan) sunbeds etc etc, normally our spend is approx 1000 pounds. happy holidays
