Hello,
I am interested in peoples views on Turunc, we are looking to go and stay in a private apartment next year with our 2 boys that will be 2years old by then. We are a married couple in our early thirties, we have been to Olu Deniz a few times and also Icmeler.
Turunc looks a lovely place but just keen to see peoples views on it as I am wondering if it may be too quiet for us!! Not that we like it busy but like somewhere to walk with the little ones.
Look forward to hearing some thoughts
Thanks
Paula
We went to Turunc when our girls were 6 months and 3 and we too rented a private apartment. We found Turunc perfect for us, not too busy but still enough restuarants and little shops to wander about of an evening and a nice walk along the beach front. I'm sure you will like it there.
I like Turunc but I couldnt bear the thought of having to use that mountain road more than once in a holiday
Actually that is the one thing that would put me off returning to Turunc, that mountain road
Puts me off as well, had a bad experience on the dolmus last year, i had to get off the bus as i felt so ill, when i looked down i realised i was quite high up and had a long walk down
we had 9 nights in icmeler & 5 nights in turunc.i absolutely loved it there!
it was our 1st visit,to both places & i much preferred turunc.i just thought,it had a lovely feel to it & found it so relaxing.
you can get a water taxi,to both icmeler & marmaris,if you fancy having a look araound those resorts, although i don't personally like marmaris, but the harbour area,is quite pleasant.
we also stayed in a private apartment,which i must say,was absolutely fanatastic,although it was at the back,of the resort,but we found the walk,quite pleasant,but will admit,to a taxi back,after a few cocktails.
we have flights booked for may, landidng at dalaman, but haven't chose a resort yet,but it looks like,it will definately be turunc.
tracy
I tend to go over by boat when i go, i still havent got over the last time i went over the mountain my mum and dad go tomorow for 10 days
My duaghter, who was 3 at the time, was really sick going round that mountain
I have always just treated it as part of the holiday. Once you see that view you know you are nearly home - or that is what it feels like. If you arrive early in the morning to see the sun rising it is just spectacular or late at night when it is all lit up is just a s beautiful. I just love the place. This summer would have been our 8th year there but we had to cancel owing to my husband developing a heart condition. Here's hoping we can get back next year. The road journey has never bother me or even my husband who hates heights. When you know what is at the end it is worth it. Living near the M25 and having to use it, that is scary!! Have fun everyone wherever you end up. ESM Ours kids where 5 and 10 by the way when we first started going.
Just trying to get a biogger picture of Turunc, does it take long to walk around the whole place? Is there many places to walk, we found we were walking aound a lot this year with the little ones.
Look forward to reading more of peoples thoughts!!
Paula
If you flatten out the image you will see how high the mountains are surrounding Turunc.
As the resort is small and surrounded by mountains I would think that to walk very far you would have to go up a steep hill.
We have been a few times on a day trip from Icmeler and the many boat trips stop off here for an hour or so.
You could walk around the whole resort in 30 minutes.
I prefer Icmeler as I like to walk to Marmaris along Pine walk, a lovely flat path next to the sea.
The main part of the village isn't a massive area to walk round, but the main street is pedestrianized at night, and there are many restaurants, bars and shops you can take a long time to walk from one end to the other, wandering around and everybody soon recognizes you and chats to you, without it being pushy. You also have the walk along the back of the beach from one end to the other, which is lined with restaurants and bars. There's live entertainment sometimes in a couple of the bars, and also Turkish nights.
At the back of the village are several residential and holiday areas which we sometimes have a wander round when we are there.
There's always something to see for the children, goats, hens with their chicks etc. All of these areas are very flat, so fine with a buggy.
It's just a lovely friendly atmosphere, where you seem to get talking to other like-minded holidaymakers.
We have also taken the taxi to Icmeler and walked along the path at the back of the beach into Marmaris, which is lovely.
It is what you make it, its very easy to get around if you want a change of scenery, and you can easily get to places like the water park in Marmaris for a good day out - which we did for the first time this year.
We've been going for years and there are still new things that we plan to do but haven't yet.
I was surprised that some posters do not like the journey over the mountain - we love it, and the views are wonderful. If you have any worries about it, I suggest you arrange your transfers with June at J&M Travel - their drivers are very experienced and extremely careful.
Have a look at the Turunc-village online website where you can take a virtual tour of the village. It is a wee bit out of date, but everything is more or less the same. There are some useful links, too.
Don't forget to let us all know how you enjoy Turunc!
we have flights booked, landing at dalaman, for next may,but hadn't decided, which resort we were going to.after staying in turunc, for the 1st time,we have now decided, that is where we are going.
I think the only reason I have such a bad opinion of that mountain is because my little girl was so sick and upset. If it hadn't been for that I'm sure it would have been fine. Turunc is a very nice resort.
