I was at the Dome hotel a few weeks ago.

About 5mins walk from the hotel you will hit a couple of restaurants and a supermarket. If you turn right on the main road, you will hit another supermarket and (bank) atm machines just before the entrance to theOlympic Lagoon.

The bus stop into Ayia Napa/Protaras is here as well.

Hi Milo2000,

My favourite hotel and favourite beach........the Dome isn't actually on Nissi (about 20 mins away on foot) the Dome actually sits on Macronissos Beach which in my humble opinion knocks spots off Nissi Beach, quieter, beautiful shelving sea and beautiful sand.

The Dome is next door to the Asterias Beach hotel and that's pretty much all there is down there other than the beach. However a few 100 yds walk takes you to the main road and there are several supermarkets, several bars the Water park is a 15 minute walk away (highly recommended) There's enough to keep you busy if you don't fancy the trip into Ayia Napa centre (£4CYP in cab)

You MUST go to the Garden Of Eden Restaurant which is on the mini strip near your hotel.....the food is fantastic and they serve great cocktails from the seperate bar.....I guarantee you'll eat their more than once

If you use the search function (top of page) and search Dome in the Cyprus forums there's quite a few past posts with more info.

hi all
Right well im totally new not only to this forum but also travelling abroad!
We had our first visit abroad this year to blue bay escape resort in corfu this year and enjoyed it although we did get bored with the lack of entertainment, anyway for next year we was looking at cyprus and to be exact the dome beach hotel travelling with thomas cook on AI.There are a few questions that i have and i was hoping someone could help a novice like me

1)Are there any good trips organised by thomas cook?if so where do they go and approx how much?

2)Is this area suitable for children aged 7yrs and 10yrs?by this i mean i know its by/in ayia napa and i know this attracts lots of young people are the beaches ok for our kids?travelling in june

3)we was also looking at the 2 day cruise to eygpt is this suitable for my kids?how long is the journey on the coach? Also has there been any reports of sickness on these trips?

I would be grateful for any help

thanks :)

We looked at this hotel but decided against it due to the more remote location.

I guess its fine if you don't mind being hotel based or paying out for taxis :)

Hi anarchy, might be able to answer a few of your questions. We haven't stayed at the Dome but are familiar with the area and are staying nearby at the Macronissos Village later this year. The beach and the area would be fine for children, you would be a 10 minute car or bus journey into Ayia Napa centre which is also fine for anyone most of the day- nice harbour area and Venetian monastery. Please be aware that Cyprus can be exceedingly hot in July or August with temperatures around 40c and Egypt is even hotter if you are thinking of doing the trip. Better to go outside of these times if you can. We did the day trip by air and it was superb, but we did it in spring and from Paphos. I wouldn't have thought it suitable for kids though. Personally I wouldn't do the cruise for the following reasons- I don't like boats, it is a bigger chunk out of your holiday(especially if you have paid AI), and there is a long coach transfer from Alexandria to Cairo and back giving you less time in Cairo itself.
There are other trips available, usually cheaper at the agencies than tour operators. Troodos mountains, Jeep safaris, Famagusta and Kyrenia in N. Cyprus etc. You can book numerous boat trips down at the harbour that the kids would enjoy, and you would be walking distance, I think, to the water park which I have heard is excellent. Hope this helps a bit.

thankyou bellavista for your reply, i have looked all over cyprus for somewhere perfect! We was told that if we liked greece then cyprus would be perfect for us.

As for the heat we was thinking of going in the middle of june do you think this is abit cooler?Mind you in greece it was getting up to 38c which was hot but bearable (just)

Not to sure about the trip to eygpt either i think it may be something to do when the kids are abit older, or even better left home

Do you know of any other good AI places in this area of cyprus?

Can't help you with the AI, we usually do self catering . Temperatures should be a bit cooler in June, but I believe they have been quite high at times this year. We went to Kefalonia in June and had temps up to 36c.
I wouldn't say that Cyprus is similar to any Greek islands that we have visited, and certainly does not have the amount of greenery found in Corfu, but it has a certain charm of it's own that seems to draw people back (us included), and the beaches on the eastern side of the island are as good as you'll find anywhere. The Egypt trip is definately worth doing at some time, but not sure about kids.

Hi there,
We are staying at the Dome Hotel in June 2009. Was just wondering if anyone knew the rule to the All Inclusive board basis?
We book all inclusive because of the Euro exchange rate at present!
I have never done All Inclusive before so wasnt sure whether it's a case of "what you see is what you get 24/7" ???
Any help on this would be very much appreciated!
Many thanks
Andy ;)

I'm no expert in dress code but if smart casual is trousers and a shirt, that doesn't leave much more to go for with "dressed" ? :que

It's not the dress code the bothers me its more what is included in the all inclusive programme?

I have heard there is a time period where you have to pay for drinks etc?

nothing shown on the web site.. there is a contact page where you can send them a question

Cy there are 3 more stages of dress above SM lounge [semi formal ] dinner, & full formal [ dinner suite shirt tie pain-ten shoes cummerbund /sash or no1 mess dress if military] the dress code also gives an idea as to how many courses in the meal

We popped there for a beer one morning about ten to eleven (well, it was hot ;)) and were told "no drinks before eleven o'clock". Then they realised that we were paying customers so that was OK. There was a notice on the bar to this effect also.
