Hi Kerrie,

IIRC we booked last year with a travel agent and they called to let us know when they received our tickets.

I know my father was posted his tickets after booking online, but this wasn't for a cruise, sorry.

This year, we went last minute. I was very disappointed when the Thomson desk handed me a flimsy, cheapy-looking ticket, rather than the lovely glossy book. Nothing puts you in a pre-holiday mood like the shiny Thomsons booklet!

Hope you have a lovely time!

Thanks for the reply prudence.
I know what you mean about the tickets  I get soooooooooo excited when i have them in my hand. I am going to text hubby now to see if he will pop in and find out wether they post them or we have to pick them up.
Thanks again

When getting your cruise tickets could you pleases let me know if you get any other useful info through on the cruise.
We booked our last thomson cruise with a cruise company who went bust so hassle hassle hassle.
This time same as you- have booked in our local thomson travel agent

If you book through a travel agent you will usually have to pick them up, or at least ask the agent to post to you.
If you book on-line you will get them through the post.

If as someone has mentioned you book last minute you get quickly made up ticket on departure.

The booklet has very brief information, no more than the brochure really. When you land you get a little more info on your transfer coach then in your cabin you will have your cruise news, destination guides, ship guides, loads of info that you don't get time to read!!
They also do a little seminar thing to talk about the ports of call, and how to do it yourself if you want to.

I would like to have all the info before I go so I can concentrate on relaxing once I am there, thats why I read holiday truth all the time :!:

Yes Duncan0808 your right. I popped into the travel agents today and they said i have to pick them up and they would call when they come in.
Do you have any idea what time the welcome meeting is :?: That lets us know how to DIY the trips if we wish. ( i take it this will be on the day we arrive) When we were on the spirit last year we were not aware that this went on

Sunseeker If there is any additional info on the tickets i will let you know.
Is there anything that i should be looking out for that you need answering.

The Port Showcase is normally held in the afternoon of the first full day onboard.

Hi Alsbaby,
You need to check out the Cruise News. (On board bible)
Tells you whats on when and where, Very useful info, like cocktail of the day, coffee of the day, different activities etc.
This will advertise the Port Showcase time/date/venue. But I am pretty sure there was another one. There is the one where they are trying to sell the trips, but I am sure I noticed another one where they were assisting with DIY options which was separate from the sales one.

You also get a list of excursions with length of time and costs in your cabin when you arrive. Along with a sheet that gives you a town map of where you are and tourist tips.

We didn't do either of them I am afraid so I can't tell you how informative or helpful they are as we tend to do our own thing.

Hi we have just returned from the new year cruise onboard thomson destiny, what a fab time we had, a great ship and the new years eve celebrations were spectacular we docked in madiera, and the fireworks were fabulous i have never seen nothing like it before what an experience i would not have missed it for the world, did anybody else go on the cruise and did you feel the same about it. you are right there is a port showcase on the full first day and then there is one for the independent traveller who likes to do their own thing in port. johnboy :D

I was there johnboy! I don't think we enjoyed it as much as our other two times on the Destiny, not sure why, maybe because of the itinery or maybe because everyone (except me) got ill at some point - there was an awful lot of coughing and sneezing on board, don't know if you noticed!

But New Year's Eve was fab, I loved everything about Madeira. I'm going to upload my fireworks video later today to a well-known video site (who's name has been censored on here for some reason!) and if Luci says it's okay I'll post the link so you can watch and reminisce!

I went to the showcase for the independent traveller, they didn't do this the other two times I went and I was impressed by this, acknowledging the fact that not everyone wants to pay Thomson for the daytrips.

Were you on deck when we docked in Madeira? I was asleep in my cabin but someone on our table told us that as we arrived and passed the Oriana, everyone on the Oriana was singing to welcome the Destiny in and it was really emotional. I'm gutted I missed that, I would have been sobbing buckets!

Hi Jess

If you post the link to You Tube, unfortunately it will be scrambled by our word censor as there have been occasions when unsavoury videos have been linked to.

Did you know that you can post your video on HT by clicking on Photo Galleries at the top of the page?
