Hi I wondered if anyone could give me some advice on good places to stay?
Myself and my husband are planning on going to Tenerife (probably PDLA, Adeje, Los Cristianos area) with my parents who are teachers so thinking of Feb Half Term. We are hoping to go a couple of days early as it's MUCH cheaper.
Firstly can anyone recommend some good hotels in the area - we want somewhere nice and a bit classy but not too expensive and who don't cater for kids. Obviously being half term there will be lots about but we want to minimise the risk! B&B would be fine as we like to sample different restaurants although most on Thomson and such are HB.
Secondly we have been looking at doing it "DIY" and have found good deals on the Spring Hotels - Arona Gran we especially like at the moment. Problem is the flights are so expensive for the parents on the weekends - have tried BA, Thomson, Thomas Cook etc but does anyone know of any others who fly from Gatwick? At the moment it doesn't seem much cheaper than going through someone like Thomson!
Thanks for your help - any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Can't really give much advice regarding hotels but one thing I would point out is that Los Cristianos is currently undergoing a major facelift and a lot of roads are being dug-up. You might want to consider this when choosing a location.
Thanks for the warning. Do you know if the works are still likely to be going on in February?
I think it's scheduled for most of next year, if not longer.
Wouldn't recommend driving anywhere near the square at Los Cristianos either, you'll just get stuck in a traffic jam for ages...the traffic was chaotic when we were there recently...all because of the roadworks.
I must admit I fancy going further along to either the Barcelo Santiago or Playa La Arena - all we want close by are a few nice restaurants and quiet bars so I'm not sure PDLA is the right place!!
also the hotel will pay for a transfer for you if you book 7 night s or over with them on their website
I have to admit ,that particular area of Tenerife is still my favourite.
We have booked for the Bitacora next year :0)
We going in Feb 07, hopefully the road works outside the Torviscas Playa will be finished then, and siam park open!
