Just received e-mail off A Reverie , will be opening soon, at a new location
"a few steps from previous location"
cant see the setting being as good myself. Allan.
They are building on the big patch of waste ground directly opposite where they were, seemingly they paid 40,000 or so pounds just for the land!! Its a large futuristic place and they are working till midnight every night on it I would reckon, when finished it will definatley be the number one place to eat in N. Goa ( and likely the dearest) I,d be surprised if its ready before Dec. though
I know I haven't posted too much before, but have enjoyed reading every post here and just want to say:
Fiona - you are doing a fantastic job
And the other HT'ers - thanks for allowing me to share your memories and experiences and for giving me a chance to try out some of your suggestions
Two weeks from now- I will be in Phuket and can compare Goa and Phuket and give you all the details - if you guys would be interested. Dont want to bore anyone...
Gotta go now. I can see a chilled Kings beckoning to me.
I love Phucket!!
hi,in goa now, the origional a reviere is building a massive new place right opposite ,and the old place has just put a # u in Au Reviere, it has kept the same staff chef etc, allan
Thanks, Chilly! Look for the Phuket-Goa details soon.
and have a great time
Went to the original Au Reverie twice at end of Nov and beginning of Dec and found it to be a great as ever. As said before all the original chefs etc and the food was stunning as always. I really hope it stays that way and the "new" one doesn't affect it at all - I'm looking forward to going next year.
the new au reverie is rather spectacular to say the least its a huge impressive building..wasnt open when we left on 16 dec but will have to try when back in march, cant wait for reviews from those of you who manage to try it soon.
She decided to build a new place directly across the road from the original and is determined to put it out of business! She showed us around and it was spectacular - it will be one of the flashiest restaurants in Goa, without a doubt.
I'm pretty sure the original site is called Au reverie and the new site is A Reverie.
It will be interesting to get updates from HTers visiting in January.
Never sure who to believe, but spoke to the guy who is in partnership at the old Au Reverie, and he said the original managers lease run out, there was a dispute from them about rights etc which went to court and the old managers lost. Thus leaving the owner of the land (who lives behind the restaurant) free to re open. All staff and chefs have stayed at the old place.
A Reverie (the original - now with new premises).
It's all very confusing but it seems to be the usual story of somebody making a sucess of a business in Goa only to have it snatched back by the owner who thinks that they can take the good name and business.

The AU Reverie in the old location has now changed it's name to "Le Jardin". At least it stops all the confusion!!
