I post this every year so opoligise to those who have read it before.
The nights are drawing in,the clocks went back on Sunday and the weather is going to get colder.
I have just put the central heating on,switched the gas fire onto mark 7 and made myselfe a cup of coffee and I am curled upon the settee surrounded by our photographs of our holidays in Turkey.
As I look through the photos I have to smile as memories are brought back to life,is that me jumping off the top deck of that boat into the sea?
and am I the one dancing on the bar?,the red eyes must be the flash and nothing to do with the alcohol.
Thank you Mr Kodac for a wonderfull invention.
The resorts will be quiet now,no more tractor train or roadsweeper.
The mosquitos will all be asleep ,their bellies full of our blood extracted from us while we slept, waiting for us all to return next year.
All the Wasps will be dead by now, killed by all our little children treading on the blighters.
Cockerels will still be crowing in the villages, but no tourist slumbers will he disturb for a while.
My goat lady will still be having a running battle with her flock every day
as she tends them through the winter.
All the sunbeds and brollies have all been put away, the cafes along the promenades closed, the sea will still be lapping the shore but no longer will children be giggling and screaming as the fish nibble their toes.
The wind will be blowing through our favourite bars, now stripped of all its sound equipment, decor and furniture, singing and laughing just an echo now among the rafters.
I for one am waiting for the rebirth of all my happy things, wont be long till next May.
Pass me some more photos darling.

The Curtain comes down again on another holiday season in Icmeler.
I would like to say "successfull season" but I know a lot of our bars and restaurents as well as apartment owners and Hoteliers have struggled this year through lack of tourists, brought on may I say through adverse and in a lot of cases inaccurate reporting.
I hope next year will be a boom year for our hosts and friends.
I know a lot of us have already booked for next year and for others it will be after the Christmas festivities before we browse the brochures.
Having said all that both my holidays in May and August were again full of things to do and things I have Done.
I never seem to get round and do all the things I plan,I blame the hot weather,"And sometimes to much Efes"
I remember one morning in the middle of August when the temp at 7-30 am was 35 degrees.
I was walking round taking my pics of bars and had finished up at the Julian Forest Apartments, these are the very last apartments right at the back of Icmeler with the mountain has its backdrop.
I started my walk back and because of the heat my small bottle of water was gone.
Has I neared the village I remembered a tap were the villagers get their spring water from so headed in that direction.
Has I aproached the tap it was being used by a Local farmer who was filling up his large water containers.
Now by this time my throat was like a rasp and my tongue twice its normal size through the lack of fluids.
I stood in line.
The farmer looked at me and we nodded to each other and with my only bit of Turkish croaked through my parched throat "Merhaba" he smiled and replied with the same word back and then reached for my water bottle and promptly filled it for me then handed it back.
He must have seen the tension in my face as I was waiting in line.
I thanked him, then took a drink of gods wine.
Instantly I was refreshed and resumed my walk, thinking about this small act of kindness shown to a complete stranger.
Moral of this story is Either take a Bigger bottle of water or dont walk so far.

It does not take much to make us happy does it, a simple act of kindness is all it takes.
We have booked our hol for next year, going to give Dalyan a try for two weeks and than onto our favorite, Icmeler, to catch up with old friends and hopefully make some new ones.
Will keep my eye out for a Red Rhino with a camera (and bottle of water)
roaming the old village, roll on June
jee zo redrihno when i read your posts i dont know wether to reach for the raki, or the box of tissues , you should enter these posts into a literiture competition ,i am quite sure you would win a prize,we will all just have to content ourselves with the memories untill next season ,why dont you post a few of your photoes and share them with us.
I've been crying over my holiday photos in the last couple of days. May feels like ages away!! I miss Turkey!
I too was in Turkey (Marmaris) twice last year and 30th April 2007 seems like an eternity away.
I am sure once Xmas has come and gone it will soon pass when we can all go back to our beloved Turkey, whichever resort we prefer.
Thanks for the touching stories.

It was the first morning of our August fortnight in Icmeler.
After a light breakfast in our apartment of coffee, toast and cereals,we packed the bags ready for our "First Day At The Beach".
Now the bags we take to the beach are Huge, having to hold 6 towels,
2 each, various grades of sun oil ranging from 2 for me to total block for Mrs Genes nose, snorkel and mask for Andre, lilo for the Rhino to play in the sea with and the obligatory reading books for Ann.
We also take two x two litre bottles of water that I have frozen in the fridge overnight, and these will keep iced all day if kept out of the sun.
Last visit to the toilet then we are on our way yours truly laiden up like an human pack horse.
We have decided to spend our first day on the stretch of beach in front of the Kontes Hotel,so having walked past the Prince Apartments on our right, sauntered passed the Efendi Hotel also on the right with the Etoil Hotel on the left, we arrived on the Promenade.
A voice shouts "Sunbed Sir", and an arm with open palm is thrust in my direction which I grasp and shake vigoriously.
"How much for the beds" I enquire.
"A £1 sir" is the reply.
"Can I have one near the waters edge " I ask.
"I have saved these just for you" he says as he escorts us to three beds and a brolly right on the waters edge.
How do they do that?
How did he know I that I was coming on that day?
He wiped the beds for us, gave us one of those cute little pots to put our rubbish in and told us if we needed anything to give him a call and that he was there to make our holiday a memorable one.
We exchanged names and I offered to pay for the beds.
"You pay later " he says.
Another friendship has been forged.
