hi DJW, yes I know of two English butchers on the algarve, they are Alan Franck Butcher, Ali Super,Mira Parque, Albufeira the telephone number I have for them is 00351 963 310 733. The other butchers is based in Almancil & the Telephone number is 00351 289 395 859. These are quite a distance from Tavira, but Almancil will be the nearest one for you. Hope this helps. I am not been unhelpful but why do you need an English butchers ? We have always found the portugese butchers very helpful and the meat of good quality

I agree!!! AND the meat is usually of better quality and cheaper than back home!!!!
Every butcher's that I have been in, there is someone who speaks excellent English (although we usually eat out most of the time)

Thanks Pat 42 and algarve addict, its just that I have not seen the cuts of beef we like (we are hoping to have rib of beef on Xmas Day). Do the Portugese butchers do these cuts. DJW

Sorry I do not know about rib of beef but if you explain what you want i am sure you could get it.

I asked this question a few years back on here. We ended up going to our local supermarket - part of a chain, and the meat there was fantastic!!!! We never did go to find an english butchers!!!!
