We asked the reception AND the manager for more coat hangers but no response. I certainly dont like a 'view' thats shows lots of big black bags all stacked up. And most certainly dont like sleeping in a room that can be doing with a good clean. But each to ones own I guess.
OAP you will have a fab time honest. Especially as its your first time to Goa so the hotel will be appear fine to you. I put a half decent review in the hotel reviews section. It wasnt dreadful, just that I expected better.
aw gemma, what a shame, mind you as you say, you dont spend all the time in the hotel and you just wont go back to that one again, thats how i felt about the santiago
Thats it Jane. After all its a discussion forum and all about opinions. Still had a fantastic holiday tho. How many sleeps for you now? its getting closer all the time ....
People need to read the opinions of others and then form their own judgements. No point in only reporting the positives and ignoring the parts you didn't like. You have given both and more importantly detailed what you didn't like ( not just a general opinion).
We can't all like the same things- just as well, think how difficult it would be to book then
94 sleeps to go!!!!!! well 95 really but we leave jersey on 9th and stay in gatwick overnight then leave gatwick on 10th!! you were correct, it is going very quickly now.... how can i lose 4 stone in 12 weeks????!!!!
I just dont like to offend anyone Fiona, especially if people are going to the hotel soon. but its only MY opinion thats all. Ive sent OAP a PM tho about good room numbers etc so hopefully this will help.
room 3103 is my room
i have read all your comments and as you say we all have our own opinions.the first time we went we stayed in the goan heritage and at first iwas dissappointed with the rooms but after the first day i loved it. we would have returned but it was too expensive. we had a good deal to neelams and that was great too. i see you have preferred room numbers are you able to post them or is that not allowed.
thanks sue(lardyhead)
Having stayed at the Phoenix Park last year and again booked for March 07 I was wandering Gemma33 how many 3 star hotels have you stayed in goa /candolim. I always find that goa balconies are small and usually 2 hot to sit on plus this year i will be requesting one of the rooms over reception with no balcony but newer rooms. I think the dust on stairs gets there very quickly I have stayed at a few hotels in Candolim and the Phoenix Park is by far the best. So anyone else reading this e mail if you have any doubts about the Phoenix or surrounding are. so please don't let Gemma put you off. Plus the pool bar is brill!!!!!!!
Gemma is entitled to her opinion of her hotel. If you read her review she had a lot of positive to say as well. I'm wondering if the room given has a big bearing on your enjoyment of your stay at this hotel. I notice some negative reviews amongst the largely positive ones.
Funnily enough Paul ive already heard that the Phoenix Park is one of the best hotels in Candolim, wouldnt like to visit the worst one if thats the case. As I have already said, its my opinion and I wont change it and I wont ever stay there again. I have mentioned many plus points on my hotel review as well. The staff were brilliant but I think its lacks good running from higher up the tree. If we all liked the same places and things the world would be a very boring place.
Paul
Have a great holiday, which I am sure you will, we return to marinha dourada on 4 February so something to look forward to. I wasnt keen on the phoenix park but still had a brilliant holiday nonetheless.
If you get fed up of Goan food and just want a night of English homecooking try Ruffles on Candalim Road.
2 nights there as we had been down in south goa,the room
we had was 4002 behind the breakfast room ,good view of the
pool if you had a high floor room, our room went down a level
so only view was a lane at the rear,as it was only for 2nights
we did not ask to be moved,if we we should go again to the Phoenix
would ask for that block but a pool faceing higher room.the breakfast
there had a good choice of food, much better than the HBC.

Incidentally anyone staying there who may be worried about excess baggage on the way home, the hotel has a scale to weigh your cases. Just ask at reception.
Thaks for the reassurance as I am staying there 14th jan for 3 weeks. Can I ask did you have a balcony on your room?
Many thanks
Yes the room has a small balcony, but as I said it faces another block.
There are no chairs or table on the balcony, but there are two wicker chairs you could use.
Try and get room 2101 or 2103, these face the restaurant or ask for a room in Dahl block which face the swimming pool. I think the odd numbers are the ones on the front which face the pool, the even numbers face the back.
Hope this helps.
