We are going to Costa Teguise after Christmas with my elderly mother. As her legs arent great she likes to have her wheelchair as she can't walk very far.
Could anybody advise, please, about wheelchair hire in Costa Teguise. I dread hauling her own chair on planes and taxis. Speaking of which do taxis in Lanzarote take wheelchairs folded up??
Many thanks for advice

Hopefully one of our members who has hired a wheelchair there, will be able to help you soon.

Thanks so much you have been so helpful
http://www.gazettelive.com as they might have some advertsfor hire companies.
On our recent visit there were a few people in CT staying in the Los Zocos who had the electric scooters. They had been hired in Lanza and were very neat and nippy. Try a look at the lanzarote gazette web site Thanks again
http://www.mobilityaids-lanzarote.com they deliver to anywhere on the island free of charge. A manual wheelchair is 60euros for the week and you just pay 50 euros deposit when it is delivered which is returned when they collect it. Just send an email to sue@mobilityaids-lanzarote saying what time, date and place you want it delivered to. They are a British couple and I found them very helpful. I would definately use them again.
Hi, We were in Lanzarote 2 weeks ago. I used
Sorry I didn`t answer all of your question. I found the taxi drivers very helpful. There is no problem sticking the folded chair in the boot. All the taxis we used were metered so there is no problem with prices.
Delly
unfriendly resort ever. The footpaths are in terrible shape for wheelchairs and parked cars are everywhere meaning it is impossible to push the chair down onto the road for crossing. The hotel was excellent VERY wheelchair friendly( Lanzarote Gardens) but poor Mum didn't get to see much of Costa Teguise as getting out and about was so difficult . The surface of the promenade which ran beside the sea was so rough that any wheelchair passenger was shaken so badly that it proved irresponsible to continue.
If anyone is wondering about access in Lanzarote I would suggest a different resort certainly not Costa Teguise for elderly people in wheelchairs
Well, we took the wheelchair with us on the plane. All went very well until we went to take Mum out and about in Costa Teguise. This must rate as the most wheelchair If anyone is wondering about access in Lanzarote I would suggest a different resort certainly not Costa Teguise for elderly people in wheelchairs
Oh Dear, Hope you were able to enjoy your holiday. Last year we stayed in Costa Teguise and went round the island in a hire car. In Playa Blanca we saw quite a few people in wheelchairs and electric scooters.
However Mum was the only person in the day care centre with a tan!!! Thanks to the awful footpaths she got to bake on the balcony. One happy camper, so all was well in the end!
the council have actually just re done all the roads so the kerbs arent as high now,but agree about the prom, loads of people falling when we were there! me included! scraped knees and extreme loss of dignity and i was sober! need some attention but doesnt spoil the overall appeal to me.
