The first question is has the money been deducted from your credit card?

If so, then you should contact them and explain your problem.

no money has been taken out of my account but i thought if you gave a credit card number then this guaranteed your booking???

If no money has been taken then it backs up the claim that they had a problem. If they have not copied your details correctly then they would have problems.

Could also be that the hotel has had problems with them and would not have taken a booking anyway.

Does seem strange that they claim emails have been sent. I would have thought a more sensible approach would have been to telephone you.

I doubt that you will be able to claim from them if they have not actually taken any money from you. I would still contact your CC supplier and put them in the picture.

Someone has your details and from a security point of view you should inform them. You have had one bad experience you do not need another.

I'm not clear about whether you are posting this whilst still in Prague but if you are then the fact that no money has been taken against your credit card account suggests that the hotel receptionist just might be right. I assume that it was czechby click who took your credit card details? And if they hadn't actually made the reservation with the hotel then you need to take it up with them and not the hotel.

And are you absolutely sure that there isn't a problem with the card number details you gave them? I only ask because the weekend before last I was out doing some Christmas shopping and for the first time ever I had a credit card transaction refused - it twice came up as unauthorised even though the PIN no was OK. I huffed and puffed and insisted that I couldn't understand why it was refused and eventually offered them another card which went through perfectly. I was all ready to rant and rave to the credit card company on the phone as soon as I got home but on the way the truth dawned on me - the card I'd tried to pay with on the 2nd of December was the one that expired on the 30th November! I'd had the replacement one in my purse all the time (it didn't become valid until the 1st) but had offered them the old one without thinking. And I've just had to crawl to AOL for the same reason - I forgot to update my account with the new card's number and security code as the old one ran out.
