Welcome to the forums. If it's a beach holiday then Marmaris is certainly not the best. Don't get me wrong it is my special place and will be back next summer for the eighth year on the trot. We usually stay in Club Turquoise which is just up the road from Club Alize. Not sure where you got your info from but Alize is about a 10 to 15 min walk to the beach. The beach in Marmaris is quite narrow for the most of it with not the best sand. In this area the neighbouring resort of Icmeler has certainly got a better beach and even then it's not glorious white sand like some area's of say Greece. However ...... beach aside ... Marmaris is fabulous ! Club Alize also and the kids will have a ball.

You can also get a dolmus to Akyaka which has a perfect beach for kids, both for making sandcastles and very shallow calm sea.
Hope that helps

You can get the Water Taxi To Turunc. Not a fab beach but its slightly less stoney, so for tender footed people, easier to get in and out of the sea. It has a long very narrow beach along the small bay, some of the restaurant have tables and chairs in the sea. You can also get there by bus (around 45 minutes via Iclemer )
Turk, there are no best beaches in or near to Marmaris. If it's a nice beach that you want, go elsewhere.
In May this year our friend Ali took us all to Cleopatra's Island. We were a bit disappointed really. The small area of beach was lovely with really nice sand and it was lovely to swim in the water. He took us for a walk around showing us the escape tunnels and the ampitheatre and explained the history to us etc which was interesting. it was a really hot day and we were in desperate need of refreshments but could not find anywhere that sold them. We also saw a snake in one of the tunnels which scared the life out of my friend and I so we were a bit nervous about were we were walking which amused Ali. The boat trip was good as we love the scenery.
