I always borrow an adapter out there, the cheap airport ones sometimes dont work very well.
The hotels sometimes have a transformer plugged into the fridges or TV's. It's worth charging expensive items through that rather than plugging straight into the mains, because with the frequent power cuts a power surge could fry a phone or PDA.

My phone charger wouldn't work over there either for some reason, so I just bought another one from the Elephant Shop (they have everything).

You could buy the Uniross Globe Trotter pocket charger which is available in Argos and other electrical selling outlets as this one is multivoltage (possibly like the electric toothbrush and shaver etc.) hence it can be used anywhere in the world. It's fairly light and compact. It will only charge AA and AAA batteries in 4 hours(in the UK) though and comes supplied with 4 AA batteries. It might be a tall order getting a charger to charge batteries in 15mins as I think India's voltage is alot lower and I recall it taking ages just to boil water in a travel kettle.

Thanks for all the advice :D

I'm off to do a little Googling and then get a charger that works!!

India's voltage is about the same as the UK. Travel kettles are a lower wattage (about 1kw) and will take longer to boil than a normal kettle (about 3 kw).

I GUESS the proble is that the supply in Goa is a bit temremental (goes up and down) the electronics probably don't like this so much. The best time to try it is after 3pm at night? As there's probably the least strai on the system so hopefully a more uniform supply...
