hi can anybody give me a bit of advice? i'm still waiting for our visas to come back from london.they arrived on 4th jan(checked tracker number on post office website)its now 22 days and from the forum people have got theirs back even though they sent them after us and are going on holiday after us.thenumber on the visa website is just a recorded message and the other three numbers are constantly engaged.does anyone know how i can find out if our visas are being processed?i'm getting a bit worried now.many thanks

Me panicking too. Its now 14 days. Supposed to be going to France on Thursday.

Postie has just been, I am going to France on Thursday, they have arrived. But before this I had tried to ring the India Commission on the 3 numbers they advertise on their website (before office hours) and all three number were constantly engaged. Seems they are Out of Order :roll:

I suggest if you have not received your visa try to ring on the main switchboard number and press Option 1 for Visa Department. I got through yesterday on this option only for the phone to be dropped on me. So keep trying....

thanks mk61 i did get through to the swithchboard yesterday and she gave me those three numbers.she told me that visas are taking 4 weeks and if we haven't got them a week before we go to try one of those numbers! as you found they are constantly engaged.the switchboard aren't even answering this morning.they have some kind of answering machine that sounds like traffic and then says goodbye! i am getting worried now tho

i sent mine off in November. as they last 6 months you have got until April. its better to be safe than sorry and they only took 11 days to come back.

panic over! our visas have just arrived. i think i frightened the postman as i nearly kissed him! interestingly the applications arrived on jan 4th and they weren't processed until 17th jan and posted 25th jan.still alls well that ends well.thanks for all your replies-my husband says i'm just an old worry guts.

Just in case anybody is trying to get through today, they are on a National Holiday (as advertised on their website) will explain why you cannot get through today, they obviously turn all of their answer systems off.

Trying to ring HCI London again today but no success in getting through!
My application was sent by post. Does anyone know if I go to the Visa Office in person will they be able to find where my application is in the system and issue it for me? Don't want to have a wasted journey.

Someone on the forum said they couldnt get thru on the phone on Friday either, and it was maybe closed Friday cos the Republic Day celebrations. Not sure about today however. Good luck

Not sure AJ cos ive never had to do that. If they have all your paperwork already there it means they would need to go and look it all out, and you know what they are like :twisted:

sometimes not very helpful. When do you fly out?

What telephone number are you calling?
On the HCI website (Visa FAQs) it says to call 0207 632 3138 for information on postal visas.
I also saw a complaint on the FAQs by someone whose visa had been delayed and they'd spent ages trying to get through on the phone.
The number they were advised to call was 0207 632 3145.

When did you post your application? The form does say it can take a minimum of 15 working days.
Did you post by Special Delivery? If so, have you confirmed that it's been delivered?

I may be wrong, but from what I've read on here, I'd not consider a visit to the HCI to ask them to find a postal application.

When do you travel?

Thanks Polly. Yes I have investigated all the phone Nos. and read about the ones on FAQ.

Tracked my postage and all was delivered over two weeks ago. I will keep trying the numbers today. Am travelling next Tuesday. I must say that this is the first year I have had a problem with a visa. I have had thirteen previous ones all done by post and received in good time before my travel date!

Looks like I will have to go to London. Not very happy about this as I live in Suffolk!

Give it a few more days until you decide to travel to London. Keep trying the main switchboard number and press Option 1 for Visa Department.
