Bophut Beach

Have a look at the Peace Resort. We have stayed there twice and it is a great place. We have stayed in both the garden view and beach view bungalows. Both were really good - the beach view one is bigger but both are a good size. I would not recommend the standard garden villa as I felt they were a bit on the small side.

just had a look at the Lawana- looks lovely. It is obviously new since we were there. I've asked for it to be added to our reviews.

Hi,

We stayed at The Lodge. Lovely aprtment, literally on the beach.
Samui in general doesn't compare at all to the Krabi region. Having said that, BoPhut is a lovely small town, nice beach and restaurants/bars.
We also liked Maenam - very quiet and laid back. We stayed at the MaeNam resort which is highly recommendable.

Enjoy your trip,
Wayne

have you stayed in Bophut recently? We haven't been for a couple of years and I was wondering about Fishermans Village. We walked back along the beachfront road to get to the Peace Resort and there were a few accomodations but it was mainly undeveloped. I'll bet its not like that now!

We were there in Jan 05. It still has a village feel to it. Many of the shops along the main road are the original boat houses, still owned by Thai's. There are a few posh restaurants. One night we ate in the Italian (!) and it cost us about £35 for two of us - yet over the road we ate at a traditional thai 'restaurant' for a few quid. There are a few bars - one quite noisy Aussie bar if I remember right.
It was my favourite place on Samui, I'd definitely go back if I were to the island again.

the Aussie bar- I think it was called the Billabong?

Dont think I will visit Samui again, have been 4 times and sadly it has now almost completely been taken over by new buildings and western companies, back in 2000 I loved the place and I wish it had stayed the way it was then.
However if I do ever feel tempted to revisit then Bophut will be the place I will choose to stay at , we visited last year and were very happy to see almost everything was the same as 2 years earlier, hope it never changes its a lovely little spot, I really like the restaurant there named happy elephant.

the elders of Bophut were determined that it would not be ruined and have acted accordingly but I do wonder how much longer they can stem the tide.
