I'm booking a hotel and flight to Benidorm, going out on 31st March and coming back on the 7th April. It's basically the same as we did last year, all inclusive 4* for approx £1100 (family of 4) not including transfers and parking.
My question is about the flights. The best I've seen as a return from the same airline is a charter flight from First Choice - £596. However, if we flew out First Choice and came back with BMIBaby, this drops to approx £565, taking into account exchange rate, as BMIBaby charge in Euros from Alicante to Birmingham.
I realise that this is not a huge saving, but I wondered if there were benefits to going with different airlines, i.e. minimising your exposure to anything untoward. After reading about charter airlines cancelling if the flights aren't full, if they did this near the date of departure then I've no doubt that the budget airline price would be sky high!
Which way am I protected more? If I was to book through First Choice and Thomson for the hotel, would I need to pay by credit card to get protection, or are you protected enough with those companies?
Many thanks for any advice
