For photo ID you can always make a copy of your passport pages then just leave the original somewhere safe.
It doesn't make sense to make plans to go somewhere that you have to be 21 to participate in drinking and gambling and then ask "how
strict are they?"
If you are used to the liberal UK drinking laws where teens of all ages are allowed in, it will come as a shock to find that you HAVE to be 21.
No one is going to face the real risk of losing their licence and livelihood so that your family members don't get left out. :?

Are you sure a photocopy is valid ID? I would have thought that most places would refuse it, since it's easier to fake, not to mention that photos don't always copy very clearly.

The best bet is your (original) passport. However, as it's not always convenient to carry that around, a drivers license (obviously containing a photo) should also be fine. Failing that, a college ID might be okay but you're starting to get on shaky ground in terms of how many places will accept it. And failing THAT...well...you can always not drink or gamble.

A college id might not be accepted when we were last in Florida (Sept 2005) my daughter who was 21 was not served alcohol because the id she had with her was her uni id and deemed not acceptable. We were told it had to be her passport as she doesn't have a driving licence.

Hi all when you talk about carrying I.D around do you mean photo I.D I dont want to be carrying around my passport all the time I want to just put that in my safe and leave it. I don't drive so don't have a driving licence either. Going to Vegas in August.

Yes photo ID. You will be asked for it all over Vegas, when picking up tickets you've booked online, for getting a player's card, for checking into a hotel and for changing traveller's cheques.

I have successfully used a photocopy of my passport for all these things. However on our last trip it was refused by check in at Caesars Palace and also at the player's club at the Sahara. Everywhere else it wa accepted.
