Hi, First post in Malta forum - hello all!
The mole (the woman!) has decided that Malta is next on the agenda for a visit. Somewhat crazy as we need to go from Malaga to London and out from there. Anyway thats sorted, and St Valentines day shall see us in Malta for a few days. She has plumped for the Victoria Hotel which looks not sooo bad on the web site. Anyone stayed there? Comments?
Also whats good to do for a few days (first visit) . Did hear that there was quite a good aeroplane or war museum at Luqa??.
Also where is the best drinking ( I mean social meeting ) area/places?

Is the hotel in Sliema? If so please If anyone has stayed here since this date would you please add your review via the above link.
Many Thanks
Only 5-10 minutes walk to the water yet located on a quiet street within Sliema.
I will add hotel report.
Taxi journey from airport around 15 minutes...cost 8.75 lire. Paid for at taxi booking office at the airport.
Was impressed with the Island and would go vback to finish or see the things we never got around to do.
St Juliens was very much for the young crowd on a saturday nite with some unfavourable sights (mostly Brits!!)
Valetta nice to see and the waterfront zone there with new bars and coffee beside the ferry terminal is pleasant.
Local beer gets thumbs up from me and the food was always good (Maltese). Chocolate cake also a dream!
Travelling on the old buses much better than the newer ones althouh it has to be said, the drivers are rather grumpy and will yell at you if you try and take a ticket as it comes out of the machine. Chill guys!

Hello nivsy, looks like you have go the bug
Hi nivsy. War museum is in Valletta, together with the war rooms! Worth a visit! Aeroplane museum at Ta' Qali (near the national football stadium). Socialising? ....lots of bars in Sliema, St Julians area, but though i am more a Gozo specialist...(!!) i recomment The Pub in Valletta....(its the same place where Oliver Reed (unfortunately) took his last pint.....!!
Thanxs for the info. Yes, I really do need to pop back again for a slightly longer visit.
