Also, i would hire a car and explore the little villages that are off the moterway on the way up to Santa Cruz..we just drove north and every so often turned off to see what there was there..and some of the villages were awesome. I suppose it depends what you like though.
A must for our family when we go to tenerife is to visit the Otello resturant. There are 2 of these, one of them is along the front at fanabe, and the other one is in a small village just a short taxi ride, i think the village may be Adeje. They do the most tasty chicken and salted potatoes and a Mojo sauce. Mmmmm
Loro Parque is well worth a visit and can be combined with a Teide trip
Would also recommend a visit to Los Gigantes, lovely area and great for picture taking.Would just love to live there! Much more laid back and quieter than PDLA and LC..not that I don't love the bars, restaurants, shops, beaches etc. in these resorts too,of course!
If you're hiring a car, take a drive up to Villaflor .Have a drink and something to eat, and even if it's a bit cloudy down nearer the coast,it'll be lovely and sunny up there ,way above the clouds. Lovely views.
(P.S. the public transport buses do go up that way too,but think they are few and far between. We met a couple in Villaflor the last time we were there. They had waited quite a while at the bus stop, so we gave them a lift back down to Adeje. )
Enjoy it all when the time comes.
As everyone's always saying...there really is something for everyone!
Loro Parque Absolutely wonderful day out CLICK HERE - try to go for a full day, there's too much to see if you're only there for 3-4 hours and you will have to miss out a show or two, so aim to be there for at least 5-6 hours. The dolphins and sea lions are fabulous, and they have killer whales now, although I haven't seen those yet. The whole park is similar to Sea World in Florida, but on a smaller scale.
Mount Teide Stunning, breathtaking and if you're lucky enough to go on a clear day you'll be able to see the other Canary Islands from the top. If you're hiring a car, then fair enough, but it's nice to go to Teide on a guided tour so you get to hear the history and geological info about the area. It can sometimes be combined with a tour of the villages on the western side of the island.
Whale/Dolphin Catamaran Usually includes drinks and lunch/snacks. Take a good suncream, the sun is very strong out at sea, and you might want to take some travel sickness tablets
Guided tour over to La Gomera Fascinating little island, totally different to Tenerife, very green and a bit humid, but nice all the same. You won't appreciate just how big Mount Teide is until you've seen it from over in La Gomera. We also saw La Palma island from there. You can get to La Gomera on your own on the ferry but then you're just stuck in San Sebastian, which isn't the most interesting town. There are guided coach tours and jeep safaris which include the price of the ferry crossing and also lunch up in the mountains. Our coach trip took us up into the mountains and we had loads of great photo stops with stunning views.
All of these trips can be booked with independant excursion agents around the resort.

Thats for all your replies. By the sounds of it 10 days wont be enough but will definitely try & fit in as much as possible.
Where can you book for these excursions as we will be s/c in PDLA
CLICK HERE but they're all very similar.
You will find lots of tour agents all over the resort, usually around shopping centres - they all do pretty much the same trips for more or less the same prices. One of the more well-known agents is Admiral Travel
Many thanks for that
Or get yourself to Tenerife Sunshine, a little excursion shop opposite the Jardin Tropical. If you say you are a member of Holiday truths they will give you a discount!!
I'd reccommend a trip up towards Icod & Garachico....lovely views!
We went on one in February which included the Oratova Valley and coming back down to Candelaria. We stopped off in Icod to see the oldest tree and had a typical canarian lunch in a botanical garden. It was lovely and it gives you a chance to see bits you wouldn't normally see when spending time on the coast.
The ride up through Teidi and the national park is breathtaking and you should try and see it.
best day out in tenerife is the parco los aguiles {not sure of spelling but this is close enough, brilliant day out, full of animals ,falcan displays , parrot displays, you can sit in one bar /cafe and you are seperated from tigers by a glass wall ,unbelievable.
best day out in tenerife is the parco los aguiles
Not been there myself but it looks like a good day, and we'll probably go next time CLICK HERE
Teide is just another extinct volcano ( a hill with a hole in the top) once you've seen one .........

Teide is not "extinct" it is dormant and could erupt again anytime. That's part of what makes it so fascinating. The surrounding area is a stunning example of a volcanic landscape and if you look around the base of Teide you can see the large crater which was once a much bigger volcano than Teide. An educated person will appreciate the power and beauty of nature. The views from the summit are breathtaking on a clear day and it's something you should definitely see if only once in a lifetime.
Obviously some people would rather spend the entire holiday on the beach and in the bars, but it's a great shame to travel all that way and not see something of the place you are visiting. We have beaches and bars in the UK...
Now then boys and girls each to his own let's keep it on a friendly basis.
Can you tell me what tenerife is like for shopping & also where the best place to shop is?
Allmen, please don't lock another thread because people don't agree, this happens too often. It would be a boring world if we were all of the same opinion
