WHich non-casino hotels were you thinking of? I can't think of any that are on the strip, unless there are any at the very far south end of the strip, so it could cost you a fortune in taxis getting to the strip if that's what you want to do.
If you do decide on a casino hotel, it is best to monitor their prices on their websites bearing in mind that the prices are high the further out you book and come down 2-3 months before arrival date.

FAT WALLET where special offers are posted. Many of these require a player's card either to book or at check in, but you could sign up for one on arrival before going to the check in desk.
