if we wre all the same then sometimes the things we want to do we would be unable to do because other people were there first and there would be no space for us.
try and be tollerant to others it make life easier.

Never watched much sport abroad on TV myself, but on Safari in Kenya in 1990 I happened to be lucky enough to watch England play Cameroon in the world-cup quarters with a mixed nationality group of folks. What a brilliant atmosphere. I wouldn't have missed it for anything.
Sport particularly football is international and can help you to mix with the locals. Its a great leveller of peoples if you are open minded enough to appreciate that.
I wouldn't go to Spain 9 years on the trot but it doesnt make it wrong for you to have done so.
I wasn't saying that it was a bad thing, as i watch sport all the time and love my football. I love spain and thats the reason we go back year after year, but in saying that we also visit other countries ( Turkey , Goa , America ) and the sport is so passionate world wide. It was not a personal attack on anybody, just wanted to hear people's reasons why.
because we like sport everyones different - I wouldn't watch TV while I'm away - but if someone watches the soaps every day, i can understand why they would want to while on their holls. I couldn't sit on a beach all day like some people - so sitting in a bar with other footy fans with a beer watching a game for a couple of hours seems ok to me - seems a better atmosphere when your on your holls.
We do like to watch the F1 Motor Racing though in a bar so usually once during a two week stay we do seek out a large TV.
I think we would much prefer to spend the time around the pool or beach during the day and in a nice restaurant on an evening, but wouldn't completely avoid the TV if there was one with English channels on hand.
Whether that be their national team or their league team.
Plus if you think about it you are drinking beer and watching football! Two great things for a lot of people
I remember a couple of years ago in majorca i was on the terrace watching England V denmark with loads of Danish fans! It was a good atmosphere, England lost 4-1!
After the match a few Danish gave me their drinks vouchers(it was bogof but with a voucher) I think they felt sorry for me!
If it's world or European cup while I'm abroad I love to catch it in a bar somewhere. Atmosphere is always great!
I remember I was on hols for World Cup 1990 - what a fantastic holiday that was. We were knocked out in the semi finals on our last night so the mood was sombre for the few hours before our flight, but apart from that a marvellous time was had by all!
1992 (i think) in spain watching england play at 8am sat in a bar with a pint nothing better when on your hols its a great atmosphere we love it but none this year and how england are going there will be none next year either
SandC, were you with many Germans?
It'll be the same this year too
thankfully being and old fassion boy i never missed a dr who or tourchwood whilst on holiday... iused the VCR and watched them when i got home..a great way to unwind from a flight
Wizard, our video is video plus only so we need the codes in advance so could only set it for the first two episodes (stupid oclock flights on saturdays, not good) Any way, it's great fun, the bar is silent and you have a chilled Bacardi and Coke to drink in the glorious sunset!!!!!
Videoing a sore subject in our house. We always set it before going away and on return its alaways asurprise what it has recorded a favourite is snow!!!(someones the switches sky box off!!)Happy Days.
Because I'm a big fan of F1 racing and would rather not miss a single race if at all possible!
Even if I wasn't disabled I'd much rather watch TV than listen to some obnoxious drunk in the bar. Everyone to their own I suppose.
There also seem to be a lot of people who feel they havent had a holiday unless they have explored every single village and outpost.....GOOD ON EM I say if thats what they enjoy!
Because I have a very busy job, a disabled mum who needs a lot of care and 4 children of various ages (only one who goes on holiday with us now though)...........a holiday for me is to relax
I'd say we do explore and go on trips for maybe 6 days out of our fortnight, but the other week or so it purely to unwind and relax.......out for nice meals, few glasses of wine or a Smirf and coke or three...........back to the apartment to sit on the balcony with a good book or to watch a film or DVD.
To summarise...............whatever floats your boat!!!
You save hard all year for it and you should do what YOU enjoy .
I for one can't understand why people would spend over 24 hours on a coach travelling to a holiday destination!
It's personal choice at the end of the day!
As said by others, a holiday is for doing what you want to do( within reason ). If part of it is finding a telly to watch the match then why not? I often get asked "why?" when I go long haul for less than 2 weeks. My answer- I have a great time, take away loads of memories and new experiences, which I would not have had if I'd decided that I didn't have enough days free to go. Life is too stressful nowadays - a holiday needs to help you unwind doing what you want to do. And of course that is where HT is a "must"- you can chose the right place for you in the comfort of your home
We went to Goa last Christmas and our room had a TV in it. We initially put it on as background noise to try and block out the b****y karaoke singers!
I have fond memories of watching Courage the Cowardly Dog in the room in the early hours of the morning before we went to bed. It became a bit of a tradition in the end, and now Courage the Cowardly Dog takes me straight back to Goa!
