On 16th April my wife and I were ue to go away on a holiday with First Choice. I was taken ill rather suddenly and things look very bad indeed for me. The hospital consultant has advised me to cancel my holiday. It is very serious.
Foolishly we have no travel insurance but I have far worse things to worry about.
I have not contacted First Choice yet. My wife and I were wondering if it would be possible to transfer the holiday to my son and his girlfriend.
Would anyone know if that is a possibility? Of course I need to contact Fisrt Choice and ask them. I know that but I would just like to know if anyone has done this before?
Desperate for any help and advice.
Check the T&C's and look if name changes are allowed. This usually attracts an admin fee though.
Good luck with it.
Mark
In this case all that had to be paid was an amendment fee. I would tell First Choice sooner rather than later though, so that they can change the names on everything.
Sorry to hear about your health problems.
my in laws had similiar problem 2 years, had booked to go to spain with direct holidays, 3 weeks before holiday something came up and they couldnt go , i phoned direct holidays to ask if it was possible to change the holiday into someone elses name and was told if it was for the whole party(2 of them) then it would be treated as a cancellation, so we changed the lead name on it that day and paid the amendment fee , then changed the other name the following week and didnt have a problem at all.
Many thanks to you all. I am finding it so hard to think straight at the moment. The news came as a bombshell to me.
I have just contacted First Choice and a change of name is possible. The ammendment charge is £30 per person. This can be done up to two days before departure.
sorry to hear about your troubles - hope you can get sorted soon.
I've seen your posts on the Goa forum.
I'm so sorry to hear about your illness, I wish you all the best.
I'm glad that you've at least managed to sort out your holiday booking, though.
Regards
Polly
Another idea would be to put off the holiday till a later date - even this time next year. You would still pay the amendment fee per person plus any increase in the holiday cost, but at least you would still be going.
I rang First Choice and asked them about what you suggested and unfortunately that is not possible.
I can make a name ammendment up to 48hrs before the start of the holiday. I just hope my son and his girlfriend can go.
If not I'll look into other ways to let someone go.
thanks
Very sorry to hear of your shocking illness. And it's only normal to feel that you're going around in a daze. Just hope that things turn out better than you currently anticipate, and know that I wish you (and your wife) well.
Just one thought. How did you pay for the holiday? If by credit card does that offer any kind of insurance that covers this sort of thing.
Thanks for your best wishes. I appreciate it. I am trying to be as positive as I can as life still goes on regardless of difficulties.
Fwh.
That was worth considering. But I paid on-line with a debit card. Thanks though.
So sorry to hear of your illness and do hope things turn out alright for you. Try and get the holiday sorted out as soon as possible as that will be one thing less for you to worry about.
Yes that is good advice. I am waiting to hear from my son and his girlfriend if they can go. He is in the Forces and due to go to Afghanistan soon. I hope the Army can give him time off.
I've got my fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you. Do let us know how you get on and remember, we are all rooting for you and your family at this time.
Agree with the above post, the quicker this gets sorted the better and then you can concentrate on getting yourself well.
All the best,
Mary x
Has anyone heard from pedrogooner? I do hope he is doing OK and has managed to sort his holiday out.
I was thinking about him today. Hope everything worked out ok.
