hi most places take plastic but be careful, 1 lady used hers in a jewellers when came home she found out the man had taken another 2 times the money. there is several cash machines which i used.
hope this helps
We first had a wasted visit up to the office as they were closed.
I already had one of their brochures from a previous visit and it doesn't show opening hours.
I've also just checked on their website and can't see the information on there, either.
Anyway, we returned to their office the following day ready to book the tour, only to be told 'The tour is full'.
We asked about the following week and got the same response, with no further explanation, the girl in the office was not really helpful.
She just said 'See the boards outside' which was pointless as she'd just told us that the only tour we wanted to do was full.
We spent a bit longer trying other agencies for the same tour but another Tour agency (Footprints) told us that the problem is availability of the train tickets and you really need to book a while in advance.
I don't know if this is true, but if we'd known this would be a problem we would have booked in advance.
Daytrippers website does say that this trip can be booked 6 weeks in advance - if it had said there is limited space, we WOULD have booked in advance.
I can't really comment on whether Daytripper is a good company to book with, but we were disappointed with our (admittedly limited) experience of them.

Oh Polly, your scaring me now!!
To be fair - there are limited spaces on all of Daytrippers excursions, the Bombay trip's limited space is exacerbated by the fact that the trains to and from Bombay are always full - we tried to return via Bombay on the train rather than fly a couple of years ago and couldn't get a ticket even with 10 days notice.
no need to be scared, I think. That was just our experience.
If we do go again, we'll definitely try to use Daytrippers for the Mumbai trip, I've seen so many positive reports of the company.
They seem to close quite early in the evening, I think they were closed around 7pm when we went, but other tour agencies seemed to be open later than that.
Have a great holiday, you lucky sod.
Polly
Thanks PPC, I didn't dare show your previous post to Mrs Kevin1841!
Taxi's, buses, trains, planes and boats are all cheap - you just need to some research on here - ask questions - surf the web and you can DIY any trip straight from your computer. For other small trips do them when you get out there, hire a taxi, etc.
...and it will be cheaper too and good fun doing it all.

Regarding the last post, I would think anyone who is on a "package" for a couple of weeks or so wpold be well advised to stick with the likes of Daytripper for out of state trips. I,ve been visiting India for many years now and it's not just a case of browse the net, a few clicks, and hey presto off you go. Yes you can do it, but train bookings, standard of hotels, taxis, etc, an aufull lot can go wrong, and if you are on a two or three week stay it can ruin your holiday. It's different if you are backpacking on your gap year, but not if you are on your annual two week break, for the money you may save, I dont think the risk of a bad trip is worth it. Alan
Just a bit of preparation and you will need to do this if you DIY or book and organised excusion. Personally I feel the DayTripper trip makes the most of the time you have. If I had doe it myself I am sure I would have fitted as much in as Day Tripper did
The point I am making is if travel companies cannot offer the trips - why not do it yourself - that's all - I also know that other people will find this daunting.

This is the second year running that we've used them and I can't fault them for value and service. We did their Bombay Dreams trip just over a week ago and were looked after superbly by the guide who accompanied us - he even showed us some interesting (and perhaps slightly unusual!) places round the city during his own free time on Saturday morning. We were also given an excellent tour of the city by a knowledgeable professional guide the following day. We had a nice air conditioned room at the hotel, where we were looked after well by friendly staff and Eddie gave us loads of useful information when we went to book the trip.
As has been remarked on before, I'm not sure they're the cheapest, but I would always use them
I am trying to book a trip via Daytripper for when I go in Dec but am not getting a reply via email, Haven't tried ringing them yet - does anyone know if Eddie's firm is still up and running?
Spoke to Eddie recently, he will be back in Goa by the end of September to prepare fot the coming season. Alan
Thanks gramps. I will try and be more patient. I thought that they might not be there for monsoon.
Just to let you know that Eddie and Enid will be back in Goa on the 24th of September for one week then they are going up to Deli for 1 week to sort some more tours out, they will then be back in Goa then untill May 2008. I hope this is some help to you
Here is the Daytrippers post
Looked at the website and sent the inquiry form from that and sent an email following it after a few days of hearing nothing ... but havent heard back from that either ?!?
Just been passed Daytripped and it is open - internet problems in Goa - very slow - due to a cable being damaged in the Med - may be 2 weeks before it is mended. Will call and tell Eddie to look at this site when I go back.
Thanks !
