Hi All
My partner and I are thinking of getting married next September (2005) in Malta. We haven't been, but I have good friends that love it there and I think for us it would be perfect.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to find any good size villas to rent for accommocation. We are 14 adults and 7 children - and we are happy to spread across 2/3 villas as long as they are close.
Also, any tips on civil wedding venues/receptions? There will probably be no more than 30 adults and 10 children present, so a small reception is needed. We would like something that is "family friendly" such as a buffet style reception.
Any tips & ideas welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Cecilie

http://www.mellieha.com/accomo.htm Hi try this site for accomadation . Most wedding parties i have seen in Malta take place at Hotels .My son was married in Malta year 2000 . Booked everything during his two week stay all they booked from U/Kwas the cerermony that took place at the registary office in Valleta .Not the most modern building in the capitol but hey thats what you go to Malta for.The registars office was nice and the registrar was very freindly and helpful .But had they done there homework they found out that with a little notice they could have had the ceremony by the pool of the hotel or in most other places. If you wou;ld like me to run through what they did just ask dont want to bore you with things you dont want to know .Cheers Dave .oh and welcolme to the site.

                Hi there,
Nowadays most of the large UK tour operators give you the option to pre book your wedding and they do all the work for you. For a reception to celebrate have a look at http://www.islandhotels.com/islandcaterers/
I hope this helps

                Hi
We got married in Malta this September and it was arranged mainly by the Wedding Co-Ordinator with which we booked our holiday. It included the brides bouquet/grooms buttonhole, cake and all the paperwork which needs to be filled in before you go. The wedding co-ordinator was lovely and it did take a lot of the stress out of the wedding. We were able to marry at our hotel as I had heard the registry office wasn't up to much. We could book extras like photographer, arch etc through the co-ordinator. I will admit the photgraphs are good. We had family come over for the wedding. My only advise would be try booking early September rather than late because the weather was changing near the latter part of our holiday,

Hi, I think Malta is a great place to have your wedding. An agent that can help you with the wedding, accommodation and all your need is http://www.bbtravelservices.com.
I have a friend who used them and was very satisfied. September is a good month because the weather will be really nice in Malta. I hope you and your fiance have a great wedding in Malta. Let us know how it went.

Hi, We got married in Malta 5 years ago. we did it all ourselves , arranged the actual wedding by contacting their Register Office (about £15 then I think - banns have to be read etc.) and booked a holiday at the same time.
It was different, sometimes it is nice to be away from family etc. and do it on your own (and also a lot cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
whatever you do, enjoy it!
cheers.

                Hi all,
I am thinking about getting married in Malta April 2006 but i have no idea how to book it???

I thought about using a wedding co - ordinator but then thought why should i just do it all myself as i am already booking accomodation for 20 people, I may as well try and find out if it is possible to book the Marriage registry office myself as well, as i would know it is defo done and of course more cost effective!!
Any Ideas

Thanks

Hi jo2. Most operators offer this service as part of an overall package. I can specify a few operators if you like but I do believe most major ones do. I do not like to specify any operators names on here but will be more than happy to PM you a list if you like

                hi,
We got married in 2003 at the Melieha Bay Hotel - the pictures from the scenerey are amazing - check out http://www.wednmalta.com.
We were a mixed group of grandparents, parents and children and this hotel suited us although there was not a lot to do close by - so I would say depends what sort of holiday you are looking for? We literally just wanted to get married and chill so this suited us. The people at the hotel were fantastic and our wedding went by without a hitch - they sorted cake flowers etc.
We have spoken to people who got married at the town hall in valetta and they didnt have such a good experience as us.
If youhave any more questions happy to help.

                Hi
I got married really cheaply in Malta in 03 - with Portland Direct - they arranged everything for us and we had a great time - please note though that you do have to get quite a few legal documents signed by a solicitor over here before you can get married there. Check out http://www.wednmalta.com this is my photographers site (Isabelle Mizzi) and by the looks of it she is now arranging weddings too - she was great and she has an english husband - so there is no probs with language!!

I hope you don't mind, but I too am planning on getting married in Malta in April (approx 6th-9th) - if you don't mind I was wondering if you had any tips on what you had found out.
I have already booked the accomodation for me and my guests (total 13 people), but am still planning the wedding.

Malta is of course a Roman Catholic country with something like 365 churches. If you are a Catholic and want to get married in Malta, have a look at this page, http://www.global.net.mt/engpar/serv03.htm on the website of the parish for English speaking Catholics.

                Hi
I'm hoping to get married in Malta this Oct/Nov. Am totally clueless about what's the best way to organise it.
I'm quite interested at staying at the Hilton Malta as I know Thompson holidays can arrange weddings there. Has anybody been married there before? Also I believe the restaurants at the hotel are pretty amazing - can anybody tell me how much they are as we're hoping to have the wedding meal here for around a party of 8 people. We are on a tight budget so ideally no more than around £30 per head. Otherwise can anybody recommend any nearby decent restuarants that would cater for this style of meal/celebration?
Finally, is Oct/Nov too hot/cold to get married?
Thanks everybody. Any other tips gratefully received!

you might consider obtaining the facilities of a wedding planner in malta. This will facilitate the legal aspects and the planning of the wedding. The hilton is a reliable hotel but you will obtain better rates by using someone which constantly deals with such organisations. Visit chooseMalta.com and you can read more about the wedding planner.
