Hello charliegirl007, about the only place with all the things you are looking for would have to be Palma (is it a town or city) lots to see there you have the Old Town, Cathedral, Moorish Palace and Baths, Harbour, more shops than a girl could ever go in, Tapas Bars and a good nightlife. There is also a Castle just out of town ( I think it was in one of David Essex's films) as with all travel abroad it pays to get a good tour guide book, hope this gives you a start.
Thanks for that Dave. We have had many happy days in Palma, it's a wonderful place. I think I wa looking for a typical 'spanish' resort, if there is uch a thing!
Palma is good. Stayed twice for a January break. Hotel Costa Azul, just over the road from the harbour, 10 mins walk round too the old town.
We're stating at Puerto Soller on the North West coast of Majorca in June, an old wooden train runs there from Palma, the train stops at Soller village, then another one runs down to the port.
I was a holiday rep in Majorca so travelled the island quite a bit. I agree with seasider007. Soller is the main tourist area on the west coast, but nowhere near as busy as Palma Nova. I would suggest you hire a car and travel around the west coast. Go up into the mountains, there are lots of small spanish villages around here. I'm sure that this part of the island will be what you are looking for.
Thanks for your help, we might have a trip out during the first week and decide then where to stay for the second week
