We've been since, at the end of September last year and are due back in little over three weeks time (May 13th for two weeks!)
That'll be our seventh time and even though we love the place we're thinking of giving it a miss next year 'cause you know what they say; absence makes the heart grow fonder...
I'll try and update on the building work with photos etc.
If anyone has stayed at this hotel and not yet written a review please do so by
anyone been here recently, im going in a few weeks and want to know any latest updates.
Have a great holiday!
lol thanks for that! what did u think of the hotel overall?
The hotel is great! I can't understand some of the bad reviews i've read, the rooms are fab and always clean just like the rest of the hotel, the pool area is fantastic and there's lots of sunbeds and parasols. The food & drink is good and the staff are really helpful and friendly, the hotel is in a nice location and it doesn't take long to walk to the shops/bars/restaurants/beach and you can easily catch the bus to paphos, i found nothing at all to complain about, and will definately go back to the Ascos Beach! You'll have a fantastic time, i'd say it was impossible not to! I'd love to go back now really missing the hotel and the sunshine!
Thanks, can't wait to go now. We are hoping to go to Egypt while we are there.
anyone no anything about this hotel we are going next sep sea view room is there much going on around the hotel
There shouldn't be any building close to the hotel after that.
I've been to the Ascos for the past few years and will be there again in June 2008. The hotel gets a lot of repeat business which says a lot about the place - you'll enjoy it.

Unsure as to what to pack etc.....
Is it dressy for the New Year dinner ....or low key? Will I need shorts and t-shirts for the day time....or fleecies LOL
Any help appreciated.....just wanting to try to stay within the allocated luggage limits!
Merged with existing topic.
If it is not too late for any of you who have booked this place....amend your booking NOW and go elsewhere! We went on Boxing Day, returning on 2 Jan.
Ok first , some positives:-
Staff were, in the main, friendly. Especially the waiters in the evenings in the bar.
We had great weather!!!
The hotel is in a great position, overlooking the sea, and the view from the pool area is stunning.
Now on to the gritty stuff.........
The hotel is not 4 star. (It may have been 20 years ago, but the decor and shabby dirty appearance of the public areas and bedrooms are more like a two star)
Our bathroom was grimy. The tiles had never been cleaned and had streaks and tide marks running down the walls, the floor tiles were there from the day hotel was built, chipped and filthy.
The bedroom was plagued with ants.....even to the point of them crawling on me in bed!!
The food ranged from very good (about twice) to abysmal. One day everyone was complaining that lunch was COLD....cold greasy pork chops and Freezing cold chips.
Next day everything was boiling hot and the food was replaced every 5 minutes......sadly that only lasted a day
On New years eve the water dried up.....therefore no baths or showers (apart from in the basemant gym, somehow that had water.) No water of course means no mixers for drinks......the poor rep had a mob following her to reception yelling for the manager. In the meantime they offerred us bottled coke and bottled tonic etc.....at a ridiculously high cost (we were in an all inclusive hotel!!).....this lasted for around an hour an a half.
On another night the gas 'broke', so, no beer, mixers etc again........
WE did ask for a move, but the rep said to be honest, this is best we have in the area ....so we decided as we were only there for a week we have to make the best of it.
I am not a complaining type (I holiday 4 times a year and have only complained to the rep once before this)....but the poor rep was running out of complaint forms this week! She had a queue several people long PERMANENTLY!
Also, nothing to do with the hotel, but just to add to our misery, we had the neighbours from hell in the room next to us. I wont go into what they were doing on their balcony one afternoon in full view of anyone who cared to look (or listen!) as this is a family site...only to hear them coming in at 3 in the morning and have the biggest row I have ever heard, she was effing and blinding and there was furniture smashing........we complained to reception along with most people in the hotel. Next afternoon on the balcony.........guess what they were doing again.......?????? Lovely clientele.
Having said all that, we DID make the best of it, we met some nice people, and Coral Bay itself is lovely so we spent as much time as possible out of the hotel.
I first went to the Ascos in 1998, just after they'd built the new wing and I'm returning again this year, in a couple of days in fact, after visiting most years.
I've travelled quite a lot in my time, to every continent and have stayed at many hotels, including some of the very best.
I've never had any complaints with the food, service, cleanliness, etc, at the Ascos, which have always been good. In fact rooms were being refurbished last time I was there in June 2007, with carpets being replaced by laminate flooring and rooms being re-decorated.
Staff have always been friendly and as a regular visitor the full time staff (as opposed to the seasonal ones) are always pleased to see us.
My only note of sadness this year is that I heard a couple of days ago that Andreas from the pool bar has had to retire due to ill health. He is a true gentleman and will be greatly missed. I wish him a long and happy retirement.
I've noted however that the majority of adverse reports about the Ascos seem to be from visitors during the winter months and I've never visited then. All I can say is that it's a very relaxing hotel to stay at, particularly with no children during the main season.
I've recommended it to several other people who have since become Ascos regulars.
I suspect that I'll be booking for 2009 within a few days of returning this year.
hello everybody. We were just wondering if anyone out there has been to this hotel and could answer us a couple of questions. Firstly is there a kettle in the room or do we need to take our own, even though its all inclusive we do like a cup of tea on the balcony every now and again. Secondly, i have heard somewhere that the all inclusive ends when you check out of your room, which in this case would be 12 o'clock, even though we dont get picked up until 8 o'clock that evening. Any help would really be appreciated, also any more tips you may have. thanks x
I have merged your post with an existing topic which may have some information while you are waiting for replies.

Late check outs aren't a problem - there's usually a room available to people on late check outs so that they can have a shower, etc, and you'll have access to meals and drinks until you actually leave.

We are going to the Ascos for a couple of weeks end Sept and 1st week of October 2008. The reviews I have ploughed through on various sites can be wonderful or grim, so am ignoring them and going to make my own mind up when I get there. Am looking forward very much to the break and sunshine and the hotel sounds fine!
And we would appreciate your honest review on this site when you get back.
