I have not stayed there but live very close by, it is not proper seaside as the beach is more mud than sand, you would need a car as the site is about 3 miles from the small railway station and a mile from the village there is a shop on site which is reasonable and a car boot sale every Sunday at the airfield next door, there is a outdoor pool and some sort of club, apart from that I can't help you. It is about 30 mins to Ambleside, Coniston and Windermere

click on the link and read through this thread for some info hinesk we found it very boring although it was in 2005 it may have changed(doubt it)

also i am not sure how clued up you are on HT but you can do a search for previous threads about particular places by clicking " search" just under photo galleries then type in lakeland in keywords and you should find things relating to your typed word(i know i do waffle on ),good luck.
