Received an answer phone message from First Choice this morning advising me that our flight from Manchester to Antalya on Sun 24th June had been cancelled. I checked on their website and the flight had indeed disappeared. The only alternative was Fri 22nd June with much better daytime flight times.
We are in the fortunate position of being able to adjust our holiday dates, and our hotel was able to accomodate these changes, as we are going DIY. However, we had a very competitive price of £102.50 pp return inc taxes for the original booking. I rang Customer Services, who confirmed that the flight had been cancelled, and who said that I would have to re-book the new Friday flights at a price of £220 pp!
Whilst the CSR went away to check availability and try to find a supervisor (as I was unhappy about the price differential) I checked the new flight on their website and lo-and-behold, the web price was only £124 pp.
She said that she couldn't access these discounted prices. After contacting her supervisor and in light of the on-line price, they eventually agreed that they would honour our original price of £102.50.
I did have to spend 40 minutes on an 0845 call, but did eventually manage a satisfactory resolution.
Well done First Choice - eventually.
Whichever way you are stuffed at such a late date. If you opt to cancel with a full refund you then have the problem of finding another holiday.
