Don't forget if you do book alternative flights to consider the cost of the transfer to Malchesine as its quite a trek.

I really can't think of a more romantic place for a honeymoon than Lake Garda, we were in Malchesine last year, the views from the cable car are breathtaking.

Susie, you will find that SOMETHING goes wrong for nearly every bride, for me it was women's problems on the day :oops: but you will have so many great memories that this won't seem so important after the event so please try not to let it spoil your day.

Congratulations to you both, may your marriage be long and happy. :D

Thanks everyone for their positive thoughts. I still cant see the positive for us in the implication oif what they have done. I really do not want to spend the first day in an Italian hospital for hubby as he is prone to asthma attacks when he does not sleep.

I went into the Croydon Branch of Thomson today to check they had my email complaint. There were lots of "customers" in there. When a consultant named Helen was free I sat down and I was greeted with "Is this quick? I am about to go on my break"

For crying out loud!! Am I missing somewthing here??? What the hell happened to customer service???

With that I walked out. Had I stayed I would have hit her.
So I will wait for Monday and for "Pre departure services department" and see what non solution they have found for me. :x

Just a thought Suzie is there a any possibility of you flying from another airport if they have availability? If so it might be worth you asking.

I'm disgusted !!

I understand it's hard when someone comes and sits in front of you, especially when you are due a break, but to come out with a statement like that. :roll: That said, if the manager had been watching she could easily have stepped in and saved the situation.

Hope you have better luck on Monday and please consider what Glynis has suggested.

hello there is nothin that you acn do as flight change under 12 hours, however if you can find a cheap flight it may be worth booking and paying for that. you will not get a refund on your thomson flights but you would arrive in resort at a time that you wanted to. you would also need to arrange your transfers and let thomson know that you would not be useing your outbound flight, if you do not they may put you down as a no show and canx you off the flight home!

I thought you would all like an update.

After many phone calls to Thomson, a stern letter by email and registered post, and calls to ABTA I am pleased to say that Thomson have provided an alternative flight at 08.35 in the morning whch is still not as great at the 1.35pm flight originally sold to us but is acceptable.

*Phew :D

Thanks to Martin at Thomson for his help (and also to Dipti who just called as well!). The customer service at Croydon Whitgift Branch is still disgraceful though.

WARNING to FUTURE BRIDES
It is probably best not to fly the day after your wedding. I certainly was not aware a flight could come forward 8 hours (going back yesh but not forward).

:D I am so pleased for you. I know it's not as good as the 1pm flight but hopefully you will now get at least part of your wedding night in the honeymoon suite and hopefully your future hubbys asthma wont be affected as much.

Am pleased that you eventually got a better flight time but am intrigued as to how Thomson could do this after a fight but not earlier? Is it the same airport etc?

I think it may have been the shear bad publicity that got it changed, but not sure. I had posted problem on another site ~ You and your wedding dot com and it has had over 500 hits of being read over the weekend - it made it to google page 2 at one point).

It is the same airport - it is now a BA flight though (Was a Thom flight, then changed to a Astraeus flight at the horrible hour!) so I assume they have paid the extra and waived the surcharge (which of course they should!).

I am just glad it is sorted and I can start to get excited now AND we get to use the honeymoon suite a bit too :D
