Just got back yesterday.. Stayed over the road from the Montechoro.. Looks a nice place.. Situated on top of a hill but not too bad for walking..me and my missus are in our 50's and we got by ok..Opposite a big entertainment complex called Father Ed's.. looks like it could get lively but still quiet at the moment...lots of places to eat ,drink and watch the 'footy' before you even get to the 'strip'.. day trips out are really worthwhile.. we managed to get up to Lisbon for the day and even as far as Seville in Spain.. any specific info you need ie:taxi fares, trip prices let me know.. cheers ..

Hello, sorry to butt in on this link but I see (redcar man) did a day trip to Saville. Can you tell me how long it takes to get there and do you have time to have a good look round? was thinking of going on a weekend break but can not get a flight there from the Midlands.

Greetings to "the real holidaymaker".. The trip to Seville took about 3 and a quarter hours and that included 35 minutes for a " toilet/fag break.. When we arrived, the guide on the coach spent about an hour walking us round and showing us the sights.. We were then left to our own devices and grabbed a drink and then had a good wander round before catching the coach to fetch us back at 4pm.. All in all we had about 4/5 hrs free time.. We certainly managed to see what we wanted to see without feeling the need to rush about.!! As i said earlier, we left at 4pm and were back at about 7.30pm, which included the obligatory toilet/fag break.. We booked the trip through "Paradise Tours" who were knocking 'em out at half price.. It cost me and the missus 25 euros for both of us which is around £18 (£9 each)..If there's better value than that, i've yet to find it.!!DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THE HOTELS.. THEY WERE KNOCKING THE TRIPS OUT AT DOUBLE THE PRICE.!! Use the ticket shops in town...there's plenty of 'em.. You go on the trip and enjoy it ..we did..!!The trip to Seville goes on Wednesday and Saturday.. As far as i could gather, the trips run everyday apart from Sunday.. Best of luck and hope this helps.. Any more info. required just ask.. Cheers.!!!!!

Hello again redcar man, thank you very much for the info, we will have to have a go at that. I am not one for coach trips but this one looks a must and at that price how can we not go, thanks again.

We were there last year. Hotel is "tired looking" could do with a refurb but you could eat your dinner off the toilet seat - it was that clean. Only ate breakfast at the Hotel so not sure what it was like main dining room but we did eat in the Restaurant at the top of the Hotel. Food was loely, expensive and portions far too big. Breakfast - the normal in any of these Hotels - queue for toast, chips for breakfast but fine and enough to keep you going until lunch.
Staff ok not memorable
Rooms huge, tired but clean.
Asked for a fridge and it was there in 1/2 an hour - no problems.
Right at the top of the strip in Montechoro but quiet an dnot too far from the main strip. A good 20 min walk to the beach (possibly longer) but I believe the Hotel had a bus 2/3 times a day. All in all a great holiday and would go back again.

Can anyone who has stayed at the Montechoro Hotel advise good room numbers that will get the sun (hopefully) all day. Also what is the best floor level to be on that will avoid any noise at night. Any other advice or hints would be welcome.

Many thanks

hello we always stay in the hotel montechoro its a brilliant hotel. We would advise a pool side view as if your at the main entrance side you will be in ear distance of Erins Isle which is an irish bar in Montechoro Park across the road. They tend to be singing till the wee hours. If you are at pool side you never hear them at all.Any floor will be fine but we have always been above 4th floor. You will enjoy your stay there staff are excellent and everything else is good too

Hi Bananas

Many thanks for your reply - much appreciated. We got out on Thursday. We are soooo looking forward to it. Can you recommend any good room numbers as we are hoping for a room that will get sunshine most of the day (hopefully). Are there sun loungers on the terrace ?

Hello, just found this site, it's very helpful.

Basically I have stayed at this hotel before, around 3 years ago and remember it being nice. I am going with my girlfriend on friday and would like to get a rough estimate on the price of a taxi from FARO airport to the hotel Montechoro?

Or if there is another way of getting there. We got the hotel and flights for £270 each for a week which is a good deal I would say.

Also could anyone refresh my memory on the decent bars/restaurants please.

Finally, what weather should I be expecting

Thanks for your help 8)

Hi 1986, the taxi will be approx 38 euros or there abouts. If you use them at weekend they charge an extra supplement. Maybe other members could give you information on company's that do airport transfers, but it could be a bit last minute with you travelling this friday. Cheers Jayjan

1986,

I have just added my good and bad restaurants in the recommendation bit at the top of this forum. This along with all the others should give you a good guide. I arrived home only last saturday so its up to date.

Enjoy

Has anyone been to the Hotel Montechoro this year? What is the play area like for kids - I can't see any pictures or see any mention of it in the hotel reviews.

Also, what activites do they have there - both on a daytime and an evening? Does anyone know if they do the obligatory mini-disco?!

We're going on 30 July for a fortnight

Cheers!
